I am at the section

towards the end of the game where I have defeated the maestro and I have the replacement crystal and the stargate manual which I have read.
I still can't figure out how to

set the stargate to return me home.
If anyone could give me a hint I would really appreciate it.

Have you carefully looked at the StarGate Manual?

There's a code you can dial to get the "Last Dialled" SGIP - it's on the right-hand first page you turn to in the book. Once you've entered this code and hit the orange button, it changes the icons on the Stargate. Once you have those, you have to use the key on the next page of the StartGate Manual to find the right code to get back...
If you need more hints, please let me know! I'm always wary of giving too much away to players who only want a slight nudge not a whole mini-walkthrough 8-0

slot in the Bjork Cube - though I don't think that one's too difficult to spot as it flashes

I added duct tape to the hand, but the main character says the hand won't press the buttons.

but I can't find it. I can't get to any new places, either by lack of items or my inability to use them in the right order.

Regarding getting into the hotel rooms:

Have you got the ice block off the ice rink yet and melted it to see what's inside?
If you have done that and still now sure...

The Flying Saucer needs to be powered up... maybe by a crystal and something from the van...

Thanks, that's all I needed to complete the game. I didn't think of going back there this early in the game :-)
