Title: Treasure hunting in Dad's loft
Post by: Retro Wolf on Mon 22/10/2018 20:49:25
Every now and then I'll go and help my Dad clear things out of his loft, it's slow progress, there was a mountain of stuff to begin with. I'm surprised my sister's ceiling didn't collapse on her! My Dad's not a hoarder, but he liked to "rescue" electronics. Before he retired his work would sometimes involve clearing out offices and schools of equipment, he would bring a lot of things home. Also anytime my family updated our equipment the old stuff would go in the loft. I remember one time he found a 24 port network switch and used it for a while, only 2 of the 24 ports were in use, the only computers in my house at the time were mine and my fathers! Pretty sure the router comes with 4 ports!

First day we pulled down (I am not joking) 2 CRT portable televisions, 1 flat screen TFT monitor, and 18 CRT Monitors! There must have been around 10 PCs of various ages, some had the name of a school printed on the side.

Before we started clearing out if there was anything I thought about looking for, this was not possible. So I've slowly been recovering artefacts to tickle my nostalgia. One time I was very pleased to recover my Dreamcast with games such as Shenmue, Sonic Adventure, Chuchu Rocket and  crazy taxi.

Today we managed to pull out the Amiga 500, Amiga 1200, lots of floppy disks, and some old PC games.

There's tons more floppy disks, a lot of pirated stuff to, I'm sorry to say I did not own legitimate copies of the Monkey Island series!! Sorry Ron!

But you did hang around the Amiga a bit later than most if you had Worms 2 and Skidmarks! (I loved Super Skidmarks)

I used to use Deluxe Paint a lot before Amiga Format gave out a free copy of Personal paint on their cover CD. (I had my Amiga around until Amiga Format died in the UK)

I've got a feeling Worms 2 was for PC but you're right it got a lot of use.
Also scored some Warhammer and a Wacom tablet my Dad bought on a whim, he doesn't even draw!
