I have travelled across the desert and bring news on whether it's possible to visit Raseir early. (in case the below screenshots are dead links, I also uploaded the screenshots here.)
Exhibit A
Here, we're standing outside Raseir, not Shapeir. You can tell because of the constellations.

Proof that the current day is 16, long before you're supposed to be in Raseir.
Exhibit B
We attempt to enter, and are met with the familiar hostility of the Raseirian guard.
Exhibit C
Being a crafty hero, we try something a little different...
Exhibit D
Hmm, nope, they ain't buying it.
Exhibit E
Oh well, we tried. We end up back at the town outlook.
So, in conclusion: Yes, it's possible to visit Raseir early in the VGA remake.

Hints & Tips / Technobabylon III Walkthrough

I just finished Technocrat's excellent Technobabylon series up to the third installment. I enjoyed it a lot. I also got stuck on the third installment a lot, and wished I had a walkthrough when sifting through everyone's various hints.
In response to Three Headed Monkey's observation that Technobabylon III is significantly tougher than it's predecessors (And having a rediculous amount of trouble with it myself), I decided to spend a couple hours putting together a walkthrough.
It tries to be bare bones about the steps to be taken to solve the game, so it tries to avoid spoilers and doesn't spend too much time giving hints; just straight up solutions here.
I know it's about a year too late, but hope it helps someone!

I started playing this game almost a year ago, and got stuck on that last last puzzle towards the end. Just finished it this morning. It's always a strange feeling, being prompted to reflect on one's own mortality. This was well written and I'm glad I decided to come back and finish it. Thanks for another addition to the list of AGS classics!

That was an old favorite of mine back before my tween years. An older brother had rented it/borrowed it from a friend (can't remember which). A friend of mine today says that the Sega Genesis is the superior version though, because the gameplay is more true to the Shadowrun Tabletop RPG. However, it's been argued (by others, not just by me) that the Super Nintendo version does a much better job of conveying the tone and theme of Shadowrun with a much better soundtrack, and its more linear/fleshed out story.
I liked the soundtrack so much, I was curious of what other projects the composer Marshall Parker worked on. Sadly, it appears he hasn't worked on that many.

If you are a fan of Mario Kart Wii, you should watch Captain Ellipsis' Online Adventures!: Mario Kart Wii videos. He has 118 rounds so far (three races in each round) and I've seen every single one since the beginning. They are really fun to watch and he adds in annotations about what he is thinking during the race.
So, kind of like a "Let's Play", but less about going through a "whole" game and more about the players experience as they're playing it on their own time for recreation, not necessarily for presentation? Nice to see a refreshing spin on the LP genre.

I'm attempting to build a computer from scratch, as I'm concerned my laptop is wanting to kick the bucket, and want more control over whether my computer fails on me. So, I've done some Newegg shopping and compiled a list of parts I think I'll need. The end-result computer should be able to do the following:
-Run Windows 7 Premium x64 (Might run Windows Vista Ultimate x64 instead if driver compatibility is easier that way)
-Internet browsing, E-Mail, etc.
-Music Composition, possibly music production
-General software/game programming
-Occasional gaming (Such as TF2, Garry's Mod, KOTOR)
-Preferrably cost around $400-$600
To build such a machine, I've gotten as far as finding these components, which seem to meet these needs:

It sounds like you're saying that personal identity lies within the body. Assuming that's what you're saying, then in that case it definitely could be wrong to take apart a dead body, because that could be considered destroying a person.
However, people frequently don't associate their bodies with their personal identity. If they were to, for example, lose an arm, they wouldn't doubt they're still themselves, even though they no longer have an arm attached to their bodies. Thus, it isn't upsetting for such people to donate organs because they consider body parts to be separate from who they are.
Just food for thought. Sorry in advance though if you've already heard this from a billion other folks.

Okay, I'll stop whining. That's got to be the most horrible thing I've heard all month.
Speaking of Western Digital drives, I have a 320 GB that hasn't failed on me yet (although I tried creating a Linux partition for it once, and now I lost access to 100 summad GB of space on it). I probably shouldn't have bothered though, in spite of the fact it was on sale.
And that laptop I mentioned earlier? I've got it consistently starting up now...provided I bang on the thing as it boots up.

You said DOSbox doesn't work great for you...if it happens to be a speed issue, does increasing the CPU cycles with CTRL+F12 or decreasing with CTRL+F11 help?
Sound can be an issue at times, though. I've been trying to configure the sound for Laura Bow 2 on DOSBox, but I can't get sound that isn't computer speaker sound or a really bizzare MIDI patch configuration. What's weird is that it worked relatively well the last time I had DOSBox installed...must be doing something wrong now.
