Finally, after sitting on this game for the better part of 2 years, the lovely CalinLeafshade helped me figure out the code that was needed to get this thing together, and after roughly 14 hours of coding and drawing, I now give you all the "gift" of my foray into the world of Oceanspirit Dennis.

In the year 20XX, Oceanspirit Dennis defeated the evil Santa Claus, but now he is back for revenge along with 8 of his holiday pals.  Can Oceanspirit Dennis defeat them all?

« on: 16 May 2013, 18:43 »
I've been asked several times how I go about rotoscoping in my games.  I've put together the first part of a tutorial showing the process!  Hopefully it will help someone out.

Part 1: Designing a Character

Part 2: Animating a Side Walk Cycle

Part 3: Animating a Back (and front) Walk Cycle

In West Australia, near the town of Doodlakine,
Lived young Ben Chandler, a good man was he,
And he kept all his candy, in a little metal tin,
Ben Chandler's Sweets Tin was something to see

Oh no! Ben's sweets tin has gone missing! How will he ever enjoy life without his delicious candy?!

This is where you, the player, come in. Guide young Ben Chandler (aka Ben304) through the wild and rugged Australian wilderness as he goes searching for his beloved tin.  Who knows, he might even encounter some paranormal phenomena along the way.

AGS Games in Production / A Golden Wake
« on: 25 Feb 2013, 03:30 »
Grundislav Games presents:

The Story:
The Roaring Twenties. The Jazz Age. Prohibition.  For Alfie Banks, a young real estate salesman from New York recently relocated to Miami, it is a time of great opportunity.

Set against the backdrop of the Florida Land Boom of the 1920s, A Golden Wake is a story of an innocent man's descent into greed and corruption, and his eventual redemption.

Based on actual events and featuring real life locations and historical figures, you must guide Alfie on his journey to reach the top of the real estate game as he deals with shady salesmen, cutthroat bootleggers, corrupt politicians, and much more, all while swept up in the events surrounding the inception of Coral Gables, The City Beautiful.

Nobody said real estate was easy.

What's all the hullabaloo?:
This project has been in my head since roughly 2010, but it was only recently that it has begun to take form.  As of right now a release date is completely unknown, but hopefully it will be some time in 2014.

This will be Grundislav Games's first commercial release.

Some of you already know, but for those who don't, and if you live in the areas of Perth, Sydney, or Brisbane, there is going to be an extremely mini-meetup in April of this year, which has been given the title Bogans 2013.  Ben304 and I will be traversing a week in the wild western wilderness and then meeting up with Layabout for a week in Sydney, followed by a final week in Brisbane.  So, if you are around, and want to say hello or join us for a beer or something, please get in touch!

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / The Podquest is back!
« on: 02 May 2011, 02:16 »
For those of you who may not remember, Zooty and I used to do a fairly regular podcast back in the mid-2000s about the AGS scene, with interviews and silly discussions and whatnot.  Then we sort of stopped.

Well now, we've started doing them again!  So go here and listen to Podquest #25, our "reboot."

Since enough work has actually been completed on the game now to merit a GiP thread, here's some information for:

Two short teasers for the game can be seen here and here

Release Date
August 8, 2012

It's been a while since Case 7, and I've been pretty quiet on the forums about Case 8, but rest assured I'm still working on it.

In lieu of a GiP thread, I'm posting a link to a second teaser I made.

A full trailer with dialogue and more insight into the story will be ready closer to the game's release.  As for when that is, I'll say before December 31st, 2011.

13
After the success of the Deluxe versions of BJ1 and BJ2, I've decided to start from the beginning again and put out Special Editions of all the Ben Jordan games, just like LucasArts is doing with Monkey Island.

I'm starting with Case 1, obviously, and will redo all the cases, then release them all along with Case 8 on a Special Edition DVD which will be sold for $29.99.

Each case will feature revamped hi-res graphics, voice acting, live music, and designer commentary.  I'll post in the GiP forum soon, but right now I just have this one screenshot to show:

As you can see the backgrounds have been redone in high res to simulate a watercolor painting, and the character sprites have also been touched up for a more modern appearance.

Estimated release date: December 21, 2012.

AGS Games in Production / Ben Jordan Case 2 Remake
« on: 10 Feb 2010, 22:22 »
Before finishing Case 8 and being completely done forever with the Ben Jordan series, I've decided to go back and rectify the horrible mess that was Case 2.  The original makes me cringe, and since I remade Case 1, Case 2 is now the odd man out of the series.  Soooo, it too is getting the "Deluxe treatment."

Features:
Fully voiced (but no lip-sync)
Extended storyline and better puzzles (No more blowing up safes with dynamite!)
Upgraded graphics (your opinion may differ)

Completed Game Announcements / Back Door Man
« on: 10 Aug 2009, 06:16 »
Miami is a rough town.  Crime, drugs, humidity...but for an enterprising male prostitute, all that matters is satisfying the clients and getting paid.  The life isn't as glamorous as it seems, though, as you'll soon find out by guiding our man through one crazy night.

The idea for Back Door Man stems from one I had for a three-game series featuring three separate characters whose stories interconnect, one game being about this character. This is a condensed version of that game.

This was made for the TIGSource Adult/Education Compo, where you could either make a game with an adult theme, an educational theme, or a mix of the two.

Explore Miami's diverse neighborhoods, from the filthy rich to the just plain filthy.

Entertain the locals with tales of your exploits.

FEATURING
- Three separate client scenarios, each with multiple outcomes.
- Multiple endings, depending on how you played.
- Did we mention you play as a man-whore?

Mittens 2009 came and went, and it was a success!

Thanks to everyone who came, drove, bared the heat, bared the rain, and generally made Mittens an amazing experience as always.

I didn't take any pictures, but I will try and get our incomplete movie edited together to make some form of sense as soon as I can.

Hope you all enjoyed yourselves, and that you all have safe trips home.  Looking forward to seeing your photos!

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / Ben Jordan Case 8 Teaser
« on: 24 Apr 2009, 02:22 »
Hey all,

I made a little teaser trailer for BJ8.  You can watch it here.

I will be releasing another trailer closer to when the game is released, with actual action and dialogue.  This will be in lieu of a thread in the GiP forum, because as we all know, when I make those I never release the game when I say I will.  ;)

Hope you enjoy it!

Getting Around

At the moment we have 4 cars: Mine, Darth Mandarb's, MillsJROSS's, and the roadtrip rental.  Mills has been kind enough to help taxi people arriving at MIA, Darth is taking care of people arriving at FLL, and the roadtrip rental is arriving on its own from the north.

Current arrangements are as follows:

RoadTripper: 5
CJ
AGA
Creed Malay
Lackey
Esseb

GrundMobile: 5
Grundislav
DarkStalkey
Becky
Eric
Jess

DarthCar: 7 (Not all at the same time though)
Darth Mandarb
Nacho
Lorena
Sylpher
Disco
Scummbuddy
DutchMarco

MillsDriver: 5
MillsJROSS
Snarky
Pesty
Miez
Quintaros

Some people are arriving before the 29th, and currently I have no idea what arrangements can be made for that.  I don't want to have you guys sleeping in airports for hours, but I can't put up more than 1 person at my house, because my house is tiny.

Also, we're going to have 2 people extra that won't fit in the cars.  Either not everyone has to ride all at the same time, or maybe someone wants to rent a car between 2/3 people?

Hello,

As you may know, I will be hosting Mittens 2009 in Miami, Florida.  I've started this thread to get some input from potential attendees regarding where to stay.  As of right now, I've been able to find a couple of options, but each has its pros and cons.  So I will be taking into account people's preferences when choosing a place to stay.

Originally, I had this place in mind.  It's cheap and in a decent location.  Even though it is essentially an RV park, it has cabins which can be rented.  However, a look on the map of the site shows that the cabins are a bit spaced out from each other.  If we were to only rent the one big cabin, the limit is 16 people.

Another option I've been looking into is house rental.  There are several nice, large houses available to rent in many areas of the city.  The downside is that they aren't as accommodating as the French chateau,  and the largest one I've been able to find is 22 people.  This probably won't be as cheap as the campsite, but it won't be horribly expensive.

A third option which may be necessary if more than 20 people come is to rent a house elsewhere.  I know there are large beach homes for rental on Florida's west coast, which is about a 2 hour drive from Miami.  We would be able to come to the city on day trips no problem.

So basically this all depends on how many people come.  I would hate to have to set an attendance limit, but it might be necessary in some cases.  Please discuss.

Also, Darth or Mills - if you guys are aware of any places in Florida that rent houses that can fit 25 + people, please let me know.

EDIT 11/3/08
This is the place I'm looking at now.

Update 1/25/09
The house people got back to me and informed me that the original property is no longer available to rent.  They did, however send me links to two other properties which are in a nice area.  The choice lies with how extravagant we want to be.

Oceanfront house?
or
Historic Mansion?

Personally, I lean more towards the mansion, as it's slightly cheaper and has more rooms/amenities.  If we get 20 people it will be less than $300 per person for the week, so not a bad deal.  They are relatively in the same location, so getting around won't be a problem.

Input is appreciated!
