Hints & Tips / Sierra game - enclosure
« on: 14 Jun 2005, 12:40 »
Has anyone played this? It's meant to be a bad ass game, and what i've played so far is sweet. But I'm stuck already and have been for two days now - not that far into the game you have to collect ashes, blood and candles for a seance. I just need the candles now, but I have to get a photo of frank to trade with them and I can't get the photo!

It's in his luggage in his room which is guarded by that weird tank guard machine thingy.

Anyone know what to do?
Cheers x

the new colours look 1,000,000 times better. Perhaps some more greys aswel as browns and try some shading - you will still be able to keep your art style if you add effective shading

I think if the art was used on a different project it'd be ace - i really like it. But it doesn't fit the story. Less bold, contrasting colours - more realistic colours - more shading - less black outlines....

Just my 1 and a half cents

Perhaps you should post some images you have already created - that's what the crit lounge is for really. Also, at the top oif the crit lounge is a thread labled 'A big list of paint programs'.
That should help you out

Love the image - but what is that on the bottom shelf of the cabinet - next to the safe but closer to the viewer?

He should be one of two polar opposites imo - either the smart gangster looking guy, or the scuffy, denim clad bum. What do you think?

I would enjoy adding to the series later perhaps - if there's no restriction on who can 'join'.
I thought 'There goes the neigbourhood' was a good tag line rather than a title - otherwise it sounds too comical. Loving the new name by the way.
Have you begun anything in the ags engine yet- or is it still story and planning stage?

I wanted to have a really bold foreground against a faded background - The idea is that i'm gonna add buildings like a saloon and what not along that walkway

Do not worry - i'm not gonna leave it as a really long EMPTY scroler! - Thanks for the pics - they've given me a few ideas.

Tumble weed and trees and all that stuff's coming later! be patient!

I like the sound of this project - I'm not too sure on the ideals of RON though - what do you mean by:
I like the RON series and how it works (every ep by a different person),
Do they have a set team that works on games or does the last person choose the next - can anyone help?
I like the seedy town idea - but not filth city
"there goes the neigbourhood" sounds really good - kinda sinister.
Have you got any art or are you waiting to do that later? Will the art be more serious than the line-fill-line of RON?

Hey! I don't really wanna post every progression of this project - but I'm stuck again already. I was going for the white chapel on a dusty road look - but I can't get the door or the roof to look correct, the walls just look way too boring aswell. I think i might add reddish/teracotta roof tiles... i'm not sure. As always: crit and stuff. paintovers welcome. Keep this list of cowboy cliches coming!

:D Ye-Haw! :D

Characters that follow you round?
Sam 'n' Max?
Broken Sword?
Lure of the Temptress?

Hey! Looking good - the roof and the sky look 10, 000 times better now - the only major problem is how 'white' the walls of the house go on either side of the door - TOO CONTRASTY! (imo)

I wanted to have a really bold foreground against a faded background - The idea is that i'm gonna add buildings like a saloon and what not along that walkway - maybe if i have a lot of outlined bold stuff instead of just that piece of wood it'll look better - maybe not  :-\ ---I'll have to see!

P.S If anyone could mention a few wester cliches they'd like to see in a game that'd be great. I already plan the sleep mexican in poncho and sombrero - the swinging door saloon...

Any preferences?

Sorry man.  I believed the rules say that you have to draw it yourself.

Yeah, sorry about that. I over looked the whole "MS PAINT!!!!" part.   :-[

Anywho.... The next indiana will probably look something like this:

Oh Hardy - har - har!

Fab-O. This and eric's templates are very generous - and a nice idea.. perhaps we should begin a thread of templates for everything - people could add what they want. Will that work?

I took on the general ideas of kaaz's pic - but tried to keep it real simple like the rest of the game will be. Sorry about the size - but it's going to be a scroler.... sooo... any pointers?

I know everybody thinks gradient skylines are nasty - but i like 'em and i'm a-stickin' to my guns.
