MeditativePixel, it's your call :)
I'll of course be happy to organize if you're not up for it.

Thanks :) I'll be extremely happy to claim this beautiful trophy, but I was thinking.. perhaps I could pass the honor of hosting the next competition to MeditativePixel? They made a stunning entry in their first post here and were very close to winning the competition. They totally deserve it.

cMiez.Say("Approved"); ?

Atmosphere: MeditativePixel (Selmiak as a VERY close second, though)
Composition: ProgZ
Functionality: MeditativePixel
Technique: MeditativePixel

(I'll try to edit with comments later.. it's being a hectic week at work!)

Also, for those who didn't come across it: the soundtrack (which is just as incredible as the animation) by Mathias Winum is officially available for free download on SoundCloud:

Thanks for the comments guys! I tried to address this visibility issue that was repeatedly pointed out in the previous Blitz, hope this piece turned out a bit better :)

ProgZ, wow, that's new! Can't wait to see how this turns out. What made a master pixel artist turn to Photoshop?

6
My vote goes to MurrayL - funny idea and nice art at the same time, ProgZ being a close second for exactly the same reasons.

7
Whoo, a difficult one.
Okay, challenge accepted  :-D

The trophies look absolutely beautiful, by the way.

Edit:
Here we go:

No lightening version:

And finally, the reference:

8
Oh dear. I think you have just won, waheela.

Yes, I've seen these before! Extremely creepy and fascinating at the same time.
Also, Madagascar:

(this is going soo off-topic..)

Damn, me and my ridiculous posting speed.. my votes wouldn't have affected the final score though, because I would have voted for:
*Lasca in Idea category (because voodoo doctors are cool; on a side note, I second what Ilyich said - it does have a Jagged Alliance-ish feel!),
*Kasander in Atmosphere and Design (because of the brilliant sinister folk tale touch, and because the individual elements are perfectly crafted - the spooky relief on the right side of the chapel is a prominent example)
*Miez in Composition and Technique (not much to comment on here, hehe - perfectly coherent, harmonious background. I always loved your choice of colors and the attention you pay to the detailed finishing)
*CaptainD in Functionality (because while all entries would be perfectly functional as in game backgrounds, this is the only one that doesn't look like a transition location, ie. room that serves as an entrance to a more important location)

Big congrats Miez, it's been ages since I saw a new work of yours. Do participate in Blitzes a bit more often, would you? :)

Also, thanks guys for the crits, I do have this readability issue with my works (I'm fighting it though). The composition was indeed intentional, I wanted the design to go with the idea and evoke the menacing, "crawly" feeling. But if you're having trouble making out what's in the picture, then I didn't do good enough! :)

I had this for a rough reference (hard to believe they're real.. America is such a crazy place):

Thanks for the great theme waheela, this Blitz turned out really well.

There's something hiding in the tool shed...

Not the best shape usage ever maybe, but the more the merrier :)

Thanks both for your kind comments, happy to hear it turned out okay despite those horrible scribbles on the left that pretend to be moss and foliage.

The technique I used in this one is slightly different to what I usually do, so I had quite a lot of fun trying it out :)

Awesome theme, waheela.

At first I was planning to picture an underwater temple of some lovecraftian god, but I ended up with this instead:

Shrine of a spider goddess?

My interpretation of the ending is...
that she's delusional and unless you manage to get the full ending, the truth won't get through to her because of her senses playing tricks on her. In reality both her victims are dead and the detective is saying "you were charged of murder", but she will keep hearing "murder attempt".

Also as far as I remember, you can double click to speed up the transitions?

I thought I wouldn't replay after releasing my first ghost but there we go, the second ghost is now roaming the house. The sprites are absolutely adorable and damn, I wish I had the skills to code this sort of things..

Still considering the expanded version?

On a side note, I think I have managed to bug the game once by having two events overlap: my ghost was looking at a picture on the wall the moment the night fell, found a (un)lucky dip and that apparently made the game freeze - I had the lucky dip screen, but no cursor and the game would not proceed to the spooks screen.

And one more..

As for the game itself, I especially enjoyed
the subtle hints of Sarah's twisted mind clashing with reality - wish there were more of these, brilliant idea.

FINE! I'll let you off this time! You better be careful in the future or one morning you might wake up with a broken blue cup in your bed, capisce?
Yes, sir, thank you, sir!

19
Hoped that the sparkling silver would be enough of a bribe to prevent horrible revenge attempts from you :)

But if it wasn't, I can add this nice t-shirt to the pot!

I don't think there will be any more votes coming, time to do the honors... incredible amount of votes, by the way!

selmiak: 13 votes
waheela: 20 votes
Anian: 20 votes
Snarky: 14 votes

Creamy: 4 votes
Sane Co.: 1 vote

And since we have a tie, I'll cast my votes too:

Idea: Snarky
Atmosphere: waheela (with Creamy coming as close second)
Design: Snarky
Composition: selmiak
Functionality: Anian
Technique: waheela

..which brings us to:

Bronze trophy going to Snarky!
Silver trophy going to Anian!
And finally, gold trophy and the honor of hosting the next competition going to waheela!

Congratulations, and many, MANY thanks to everyone who participated and voted, you keep the competitions going :)
