The biggest challenge is your patience. There will be plenty of times when you will want to rip out your hair and quit because of trial and errors and script commands not working like you thought they would. I only came on the forums to check for some solutions to common queries, but most of my learning came from the Sammy's Quest tutorial videos and my own experimenting. That was very helpful. Learn as you go kind of thing. But, like I said, patience is the biggest challenge; if you have the patience, then you can make it happen.

Haha, I really wanna play this. The graphics are great and I love the idea of playing as a schoolteacher. Will have to be extra patient waiting this one out. It's also cool that there's gonna be two versions. Since I'm Canadian, I can't wait to see if I can make 'sense' out of what the extra content is gonna be =)

Triple-breasted supermodels?? 0_0 Sounds bizarre even if it is hell.

Judging by the screenshots, I do admire the background art, but I find the protagonist's pose too static. What I mean by this is, I'm seeing him standing with his face slightly turned in four pictures (including your signature). Are there any shots of him doing something else? He doesn't walk around like that does he?

I can't believe I missed this. Then again, I haven't been looking around these forums all that much lately.

I was just thinking about this game last night. I must buy it tonight.

EDIT: Just bought it two hours ago and finished all four characters' intros. My initial reaction? Awesome. The characters are interesting, especially the tech repair guy. I can't wait to play more of this tomorrow. The music, the subtlety in characters' dialogues, the humour, the puzzles, etc are top tier. I definitely feel like I've gotten my money's worth and I'm only starting.

I have very fond memories of playing Chrono Trigger on the SNES and later, on the PSP. It is one of my favourite RPGs of all time and ONE of the best RPGs of all time period.

However, I have to say that RPGs such as Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, Earthbound, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Secret of Mana, Terranigma, Dragon Quest III, Phantasy Star II and Suikoden all hold equal worth as Chrono Trigger and can be seen on many people's top 10 or top 20 lists.

I'm a fan of the "choose your own adventure" type games. I've played a LOT in the past few years more than ever. I'm particularly fond of Japan's visual novel style where it involves little interaction from the player and most of the focus is on the story and character interactions. Ever play a game called Steins;Gate? My god that's one of my favourites. There's also a game called Ever17: The Out of Infinity that came out a long time ago which has many "choose your own adventure" routes that change the story's outcome. The same applies to a game called G-Senjou no Maou, which is a crime mystery drama with erotic elements. It's so character driven and story focused though. It blew my mind away and I couldn't stop playing it. Some awesome stuff out there.

With that being said, I'm trying to find some time to work on a visual novel of my own on the AGS engine. I'm a lousy game maker (if at all), but I pride myself when it comes to storytelling and character interaction (specifically in dialogue). I've written 30 stories in the last 7 years and I feel like there's one story that feels like it could be told as a visual novel. It's basically a melancholic drama with hints of romance. The problem is, I would need someone to do the music to match the atmosphere. I need to experiment to see if I can even pull it off using the AGS engine as there are many other engines out there specially designed for making games of this nature.

Well, that's true. The Riddler is indeed flamboyant and Nolan's take on the Batman franchise was on the darker side. Still would have enjoyed watching a darker version of that character at least. I think watching 'Batman: Gotham Knight' before watching TDK helps with getting used to the structure.

I can't really say there are many villains in the rogue gallery that could have fit for Nolan's vision and I understand the choice to go with Bane. I guess I'm just not a Bane fan like most. I'm more fond of the unusual villains like Penguin, Poison Ivy, Clayface, Killer Crock, Man-Bat, The Riddler, etc.

Oh, and I also cannot picture Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. I can't. Michelle Pfeiffer all the way. =-)

Meh, I'll just wait for this to come out on DVD. I saw TDK at the theatre and after the one-hour mark, I wondered when the movie would be over. It kind of dragged to be honest. I like many did enjoy the Joker though.

I'm not a big fan of Batman. I feel like I'm not a big fan of any superhero nowadays compared to when I was in my youth. All of the comics I read are non-superhero related. When I heard about the synopsis of this movie or read information regarding the characters, I was hoping for someone like The Riddler. Bane to me is an obscure character whose main distinction is that he broke Batman's back. Riddler on the other hand would have been able to match Batman's wit/intelligence in a different way and the mind games would have been quite creative in my opinion.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. That's why I'm not against piracy. It's because all of these big companies place such heavy barriers around what they sell that it makes me wonder what the point of purchasing is. I hate how they implement a video player within iTunes and that's the ONLY way to view the movies that I've or anyone has purchased from the iTunes store. See what I mean? That's a huge turn-off. Also, until recently, they didn't allow for the re-downloading of movies that one purchased. If by accident one deleted their movies, there'd be no way to get them back except by buying again. That changed maybe a few days ago 'cause now I can re-download all of my lost movies. Still isn't much of a convenience compared to the big picture.

I only got an iPod Touch because I wanted a compact portable device which I could use to read comics, play visual novels (Japanese adventure games), watch movies and listen to music while on the go. I also like the iPhone/iPod Touch's interface design. I'm not familiar with Android, but if they have the exact same choice of Apps, then ugh I guess I'm too late. At this point, I can't decide whether or not I prefer digital over physical (ex. owning digital books over physical books, digital movies over physical DVDs, etc).

I agree with Darth's approach. I also jailbroke my iPod Touch for the same reasons. This is my biggest peeve with everything on the internet nowadays. It applies to PC video games as well. There are too many restrictions. I don't care if I stand alone on this but I hate "internet connection required" for installation. That practically means that if I bought a game disc and don't have the internet, I just wasted my money trying to do something legal.   

When I didn't know that iTunes had DRM on their movies and TV shows, and I tried to copy them after purchasing, it pissed me off beyond anything. That's why I "illegally" downloaded a software that can remove the DRM from the movies and TV shows and that's how I convert the files into mp4 from m4v and play them on ANY device. Thing is, they don't make it seem like I've actually purchased content. That's the thing with digital media content. Whether you illegally download them or legally download them, the line is blurred in what feels like ownership.

The same thing goes for the PlayStation Network. I recently purchased some TV shows there and realized I could only play them on my PC through the PSN video player and of course the PSP. They're in a format called mnv and it is a real pain. I can't to this day figure out a way to convert them, so what I did was "illegally" download a software to screen capture the video and sound in just the area of where the video was playing. Now I have all the TV shows converted to mp4 and I can play them on ANY device. I'm never purchasing from PSN ever again though. The entire process took a long long time where I had to manually stop the video after recording and then repeating for the next episode.

The good thing? They're cheaper than actually buying on DVDs. The bad thing? All the asinine limitations/restrictions.

I used to play the King's Quest series as a kid, but I never beat them. Not a single one. Instead, I let this older dude beat them, and he owned pretty much the entire series. I think I was kind of afraid of the whole Hansel & Gretel type atmosphere and the general oddity of the game's inner nightmare-inducing mysteries.

However, when it comes to Sierra, my favourite title of all time is certainly the Space Quest series. I LOVED this series. From the moment I first played Space Quest IV and heard Gary Owens narrate comically, I was sold. That game had one of the most memorable stages and for those who remember, that MALL!! Seriously, how fun is that? You go to the arcade and can play Astro Chicken! And then you can go apply for a job at the burger joint and make burgers!

When I played Police Quest IV and Space Quest VI, they literally blew my mind. Police Quest IV was so creepy and Space Quest VI was all kinds of goofy fun. Stooge Fighter was the best!

But, as much as I loved the Sierra games, the deaths did piss me off at times. I especially hated it in the Space Quest games 'cause there are many times when you have to do certain things in a limited amount of time. Messing up means death and it does deter from the experience a little, especially when it's so difficult.

I'm actually a little excited about seeing this as it takes me back to the old Troma B-Movie days with that gritty environment exploiting tons of over-the-top violence and dark comedy. I never expected to see Roy Batty on the big screen as a hobo. It's refreshing. I love the title of the movie too. I don't expect a deep story by any means, but I do know from seeing the trailer that there's some proverbial dialogue for Rutger's character. I love it.

I used to be a huge Anime fan and I've only recently stopped, but nevertheless...I enjoyed a plethora of titles both old and new, as it doesn't really matter to me as long as the story is engaging. I'm not a heavy critic on the artwork as so many of the new generation of young fans are.

My favourites are...

1. Urusei Yatsura <-- Very funny if you're open to a more eccentric sense of humour. This Anime inspired tons of Anime of the same genre/theme. Lum is an iconic Anime character.
2. Haibane Renmei <-- Very top tier artwork with compelling fairytale-type story and likable characters.
3. Infinite Ryvius <-- The emotional realism in this makes it feel like Lord of the Flies in space.
4. Welcome to the NHK! <-- About a recluse, but it's a grand emotional roller-coaster experience. Slice-of-Life at its finest.
5. Vision of Escaflowne <-- A classic from the 90's. You'll like it if you're into action/adventure/mecha and subtle romance.
6. Ergo Proxy <-- A philosophical post-apocalyptic Anime with intriguing artwork and music.
7. Touch <-- Another classic for sports Anime fans, but even if you're not a sports Anime fan, this is a must for the drama.
8. Kimagure Orange Road <-- Fun and nostalgic romance. It's very similar to Rumiko Takahashi's work. If you do watch this, make sure to watch the "I want to return to that day" movie afterwards. It's some serious drama as opposed to the TV series' lightheartedness.  
9. Monster <-- Amazing pyschological Seinen thriller Anime. I can't recommend this enough. Grimmer is such an interesting character.
10. Maison Ikkoku <-- The best Slice-of-Life Anime in my honest mind. It has very enjoyable characters, a fluctuating romance and deep story development. Very funny and intense at times too.

Other shows you might enjoy are City Hunter, Gunbuster, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Baccano!, Beck, Casshern (any of the incarnations), Fantastic Children, Honey & Clover, Genshiken, Hataraki Man, True Tears, Twelve Kingdoms, Macross, Major, One Piece, Trigun, Birdy the Mighty Decode...

and the one Anime movie I recommend is Whisper of the Heart.

Anyway, I was gonna recommend iTunes for legal Anime purchasing, but I guess if you want physical copies...then you can try Animenation. There's a lot of epic stuff out there if you explore.
