Yeah it was supposed to be a linux-entertainment site. I was thinking about redoing the site in HTML with a slide in menu from the left and having the content displayed in a table in the center of the page. The only part that would be extremely noticably generic would be the forums (as they would remain phpbb). Does that sound like a better idea? Also, to address the splash screen, I didn't even want it. It was just there to make an anchor to penguinland. If I redid it in HTML then there would essentially be no splash screen.

Finally, If you're wondering why I chose PHP-Nuke its simply because I'm great with coding but have NO sense of creativity.

I completely agree, that is one thought I was having even before I posted here. Is there a good content management system that may not look so generic? Or is there a specific style of website that may look better?

True on that part, it just seems like a waste if he doesn't know what it is.

Edwin,

It sounds like you really dont NEED GMail, then again who does  ;). The point is, that if you haven't heard about GMail by now somehow or another you probably don't have a great use for it.

Sure, I'll send you one. GMail moved them to the inbox right above the Archive buttons. If I was smarter I would have figured that out.

Okay,

1) Yahoo! has different banners for EVERY page.
2) I'm sure that web pages pay more for banner ads than they do for text ads
3) The text ads are less intrusive and annoying, I'd prefer a bot went through and gave me somethign related to the message.

Yeah,

I see what you meant, it pretty much goes without saying. I think Yahoo! is the one making the most off of ads though, they seem to have at least 1 add for every page.

Sent to everyone who included their name. When Edwin finds out what they are and genuinely wants one, I'll gove him one.

https://gmail.google.com/gmail/help/privacy.html It mentions being stored in their database but,

Quote
Email contents and usage. The contents of your Gmail account also are stored and maintained on Google servers in order to provide the service. Google's computers process the information in your email for various purposes, including formatting and displaying the information to you, delivering targeted related information (such as advertisements and related links), preventing unsolicited bulk email (spam), backing up your email, and other purposes relating to offering you Gmail. Because we keep back-up copies of data for the purposes of recovery from errors or system failure, residual copies of email may remain on our systems for some time, even after you have deleted messages from your mailbox or after the termination of your account. Google employees do not access the content of any mailboxes unless you specifically request them to do so (for example, if you are having technical difficulties accessing your account) or if required by law, to maintain our system, or to protect Google or the public.

Nothing about public domain, and I don't think that they would do that anyway.
