Could someone help me? What is the meaning of these lines: "Even with a turkey that you know will fold, You may be stranded out in the cold". It's from a song "there’s no business like show business"

I have a character which I want to move at the beginning of the scene.

When I run the game in AGS 3.3.0 I keep getting the message: "Character is turned off and cannot be move". The code worked fine in AGS 3.2.1. Did something changed for the "Walk" in newer AGS version?

I have music volume slider in the game's GUI but it's always set to the max volume. How can I change it? I consulted manual and found it can be done manually. I want the slider to be in the middle position by the default so I put:

in the first room load code. But it doesn't change the slider. It's still set on max.

My music volume slider doesn't work. I'm using default AGS GUI panel (sierra type). Slider code:

No matter what position slider is in, the volume doesn't change.

Slider for sound however works fine. Here's its code:

I've consulted manual and everything should work. What am I doing wrong? Both sounds and music are added in their respective folders in audio section in the editor. I tried changing music prority but it doesn't help. I just don't understand how the music is handled. I've searched the forums and found some posts regarding master volume handling but I still don't get it. Sorry for being dumb! :)

Could anyone help me with this or maybe point in the right direction? (not off a Cliff :) )

Years ago I had an idea to write a blog called "Adventure Games Museum" where I wanted to write about adventures of the past, with photos of given game front and back cover, it's box contents, trivia and whatnot. You know, like in a display in the actual museum. I guess I wanted to show the young adventurers how the games were being released in the old days, before the age of digital distribution: no "soulless" downloadable keys, no lame DVD boxes, no pretty box covers (it's about you Innocent Until Caught box cover ;) ). The blog didn't really work out. I posted 2 or 3 games and abandoned it due to lack of time. Also, it was in my native language and only about 3 or 4 people read it :( I thought why not make a collaborative effort out of it, right here in the forums. If you have an old adventure game (in a good museum quality shape of course :) ), post some pictures in this thread, write a few words. I implore you! I can't be the only freak who marvels at this things... Well, even if I am, worry not, I will be posting games myself. :P


Oh, and I don't do this to boast about my games collection. Not AT ALL! Nooooo, sir!

Intricate spoil-proof hint system! Copy protection worked the same way so you could not xerox it.
 

Beautiful handwritten Henry Jones' diary which you had to consult to solve puzzles in the game. Really cool stuff!

I've found an interesting series of articles where Kosta Andreadis of IGN remembers and plays through all most famous adventure games, beginning with Sierra's King's and Space Quests, and Lucasfilm's Zak McKracken. Really great read.

I read an interesting article yesterday. It seems that there was a HD remake of DotT in the making and that it has been canceled because "the company's higher-ups had no interest in continuing to make what they called 'legacy' titles like this one".

Well, I didn't like Monkey Island HD remakes style that much but I bought them anyway cause I'm a hardcore fan of the franchise and I wanted to hear brilliant Dominic Armato delivering those classic lines. And we had DotT talkie version already. What do you guys think?

Hey, guys, have you heard about this indie project? It's being developed by two people, a couple actually, and it's looking fantastic. I just love the art style and the spooky atmosphere. Check it out.

Good news is their funding campaign is already successfull.

I don't know if this was posted. I assume it wasn't cause it's started yesterday. Anyway, what do you guys think? It looks more like a Cop Simulator to me than actual adventure game.

Hi all!

Could anyone who used SSH's description module help me with it? I must admit, reading moudle codes is like reading Chinese to me  :sad:

Here's my problem.




As you can see some letters are "cut off" at the top (black outline is missing) and I can't quite figure out why. As if there was some border. What parameters in Description Module should I change? I tried a few and nothing works so far.

The game tells a story of a homeless man who communicates with the world using an old sock on his right hand. He's a huge football fan and plays it a lot near his backalley. One day he gets mugged by a wandering bully and loses his precious ball in the process. Now he must pull himself together, team up with a local superhero, find a new ball and confront his oppressor again.




And so here it is, folks! The idea for this game was conceived six years ago. And now, after five years of toe wiggling and wall staring, and one year of actual production, we have the GAME. It was a long and very personal journey. We hope you'll like what you'll play. Please do let us know in the comments!

Hi guys!

I'm trying to make one room appear slowly with FadeIn (set at 10). But I just can't quite figure out where to put the code, in which room event? None works. With FadeOut it's simple - you just put it right before ChangeRoom. But FadeIn? I searched the forums and found only some complicated solutions with transparent guis, big black objects fading out and whatnot. I mean, c'mon. Itn't there a simpler way?

I'm struggling with a pause feature for the game. I consulted Ryan Timothy on the forums and he came out with this script:

I changed SetSkipSpeech to "mouse only" and added new "game paused" gui label, the game pauses like a charm but the gui is displayed only if there's no speech currently on the screen. In other words, when I pause the game during dialogue game pauses but without the gui, the gui is only visible if I pause the game while walking for example, or during animation. Do you know what to do to override speech and force gui to be displayed?

There was no repeatedly_execute_always function in my Global Script so I simply added "always" at the end of "repeatedly_execute"... I also created two global bool type variables as Ryan instructed (with no initial value).
Can this be caused by the GUI type? Button, label, texbox? I'm just clueless... Maybe some option in General Settings prevents the gui from being displayed?
