I remember that there was a similar problem in Portugal about ten years ago.  There were maybe 30 couples that hadn't yet figured out the reason for the variations between boys and girls.  Yeah, that's a lot.

I find this story incredibly hard to believe... and yet somehow, I manage it. It's quite true that there are exceptions to every rule and every normality in the world out there. The idea that there are couple ut there who have just lived away from society in general and haven't been told the facts of life properly by their carers is quite conceivable. (If only they knew it! XP Ahh... stupidest pun ever).

I'd love to have an interview with this couple though, and ask them all sorts of questions about the way they thought things worked.

She was also very religiously sheltered, and soon after moved out (she wanted to rebel) of her house and became one of those girls who sleeps with lots of men. I'm sure she understands better now.

If it weren't for school I never would have known how to have sex, because of the way my parents are. Oh wait, the internet..

hmmm Panda... that actually reminds me of a female friend of mine that thinks birth control with condoms is 100% effective... and that if you get pregnant its just fate, adn that the average penis size is 10 inches :.

of course she actually WENT to sex ed, so i dunno what to make of that:P


as for the german couple, that's just kinda weird

Most of my female friends know more about penises than I do.

Also, that story about the german couple sounds highly implausible to me...they must have led a life completely isolated from magazines, newspapers, TV and social connections.

They must also have opressed any natural instincts, or simply resented bodily contact, since an intimite couple driven by lust eventually (after 6 years) will find out the procedure of sex almost by coincidence.

Additionally, they must have lacked common sense, believing that her pregnancy would occur without any prior cause.

Socially isolated, mentally inhibited and plain stupid.

Well, I thought this story was true, but apparently all you skeptics were correct.  From the latest Private Eye:

...Doubters immediately raised eyebrows at a story that sounded so much like an urban legend, although the story was full of quotes from the University Clinic of Luebeck - identifiable as the UniKlinik Lubeck.

The story was written by Berlin-based freelancer Allan Hall.  When the Eye contacted Hall to ask where the story came from he snapped: "It was in Bild am Sonntag [a German tabloid] and the Medical Tribune."  Er, no.  There was a recent story about a Lubeck couple who sought fertility treatment in the German Medical Tribune, but the cause of their celibacy was erectile dysfunction, not ignorance.  Bild am Sonntag actually reported the story fairly accurately, quoting "potenzprobleme as the cause.  He quickly changed his story to "someone at the clinic told me."

And apparently this Allan Hall guy has previous form: he also changed a story about a guy with masses of pet spiders having died, so that in his version of the story, the spiders started to eat the man once he was dead.  In reality, all the spiders were still in their cages when his (intact) body was found.
