Somehow, I have stronger feelings of nostalgia to the games we used to play on my then best friend's AMIGA, than the first games my brother and I played on our own PC a couple of years later, even though I spend much more time with the latter.

AMIGA:

  • Bubble Bobble
  • Lemmings
  • North & South
  • Wings of Fury
  • Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, trying to get past the age check when we hardly understood English ;D

PC:

  • X-Wing
  • The Secret of Monkey Island
  • Monster Bash
  • Formula One Grand Prix
  • Aufschwung Ost, which I don't think was ever released in English
I look just like Bobbin Threadbare.

Nostalgia? One game immediately springs to mind:

When I was eight or something (around 1990) I had a NES 8 bit and I bought a game called just 'Tennis'. It was 40 euro's (that's around 40 dollars for all you Americanos!) I remember playing it for months in a row.

Some while ago I discovered that almost all NES 8 bit can be downloaded from the Net. So I got Tennis again (and even legal!)

To my surprise I still found it really good. The gameplay still is very good, the graphics and sound are so bad they actually are very funny.
Only thing bothering me is that I remember beating it at the hardest level with one hand on my back, while now (13 years later) I'm having a hard time on the medium level. Maybe I am getting older :-(

ManicMatt

In no order...

Geoff Crammond's  F1 grand prix (Amiga)

Me and my mate would love how you could take turns at controlling every driver in the race. We'd rename EVERY driver to have stupid names like "Blind man" and basically roleplay a reason as to why said driver decided to drive as fast as they could into a wall and have a spectacular crash. Except the two drivers with our names on that would win 1st and 2nd place.

Little Computer People (C64)

It was so new at the time to have just a man in control of his own actions, walking around a house inside your computer. Then stopping his food from being delivered and letting him literally go green. He never dies though.

SEUCK (C64)

Okay so not a game per say, but I would just love to be able to play all the games I'd made on that. (Shoot em up construction kit)
The Amiga version s(e)ucked though. I mean, no collision detection system? Pants!

Creatures 2 (C64)

Again, I have good word it sucked on the Amiga, but the C64 version was a classic. Fiendish challanges and puzzles, and I learnt the word bugger from that game too.

Colonization (Amiga)

For some reason, I just can't bring myself to sit down and play these kinds of games anymore, but I spent many hours on this great game. I never did 'win' it though, despite my efforts. I also bizarrely loved the music it played.

Giddy Plant

Time to big up the Spectrum.

The best game, perhaps ever, was "Skool Daze" and the follow up "Bak 2 Skool".

Also I've seen a mention here of "Yie Ar Kung Fu" which was perhaps the best fighting game ever produced, although the sequel was pants.

Also a mention for "Monty on the Run" because it was the pinnacle of the Monty series.

thewalrus

Hmmm..... Obviously Kings Quest 1, that was the first ever adventure game that I played on my PCJR. Also, the original Leisure Suit Larry..... Street Fighter 2 Turbo.... Mrs. Pacman, Donkey Kong, Qubert, etc, etc.....

Thewalrus

Goo, goo, ga, joob!!!!!
Thewalrus

Goo, goo, ga, joob!!!

"Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come!"

Erenan

In Search of the Most Amazing Thing
Ultimate Wizard
Another World / Out of this World
Tron
The Argos Expedition

The Bunker

CaptainBinky

Fondest game memory EVER:

Turrican on the C64... No in-game music on C64, then on level 4 (or 5, can't remember), you drop down into a cavern and there's a box on the ground. You pick it up... suddenly this drum beat kicks in, you realise you've now got a jetpack, and the game turns into a vertically scrolling shoot-em-up! Absolutely cracking, a complete surprise, and the most memorable moment in the entire game! Ahhhh (wipes tear from eye)... those were the days...

QuoteHe never dies though.

Sadly, little computer people can die. It's a sad story.

Monty on the Run wasn't my favourite in the series, but a bit yes on skool daze/klass of '99 remake.
