Yahtzee & AGS, the history

<< < (3/8) > >>

C-SFS:
Well, he seems to have repented his sins now. For those who haven't seen his site, he writes:

"The praise I was given by the rest of the community gave me new-found confidence. But with confidence came cockiness, and with cockiness came big-headedness, and soon I was declaring myself an authority on amateur adventure games. That part of my life all seems so unreal now. I was a foolish, self-delusional, arrogant prick and there's not a day goes by that I don't regret all the silly things I did and said that alienated me from the AGS community.

So if any amateur adventure gamers are reading this, and I know there are as they seemed to find Odysseus Kent pretty easily, then this is my apology. I'm sorry. Thank you for liking my games, and I'm sorry you had to put up with my weirdness. The AGS community is really one of the nicest online and AGS itself is the best adventure game-makey tool in the whole wide world."

Oh, and that US-article mentioned was probably referring to http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/essays/tribute.htm

It's purely humourous, I assure you... of course, being from England probably helps my perspective a little :)

2ma2:
When I joined, right before Rode, the worst things were allready over. I never saw anything pointing towards Y's egositical behaviour. However, the forums were tense, and the winds of changes blew through it, which divided the groups I guess. Yahtzee left, Sarah a bit later, blaiming the hostile enviroment that had began within the community.

We changed, and I arrived in the beginning of it. Next there was the newbie invasion and we got a bigger crisis on our hands with more and more frustrated regulars. Finally, the messiah stepped forward (Pessi) and delivered us out from the pits of agony be keeping his temper in the worst of conditions (Cheers!). And we started working to make things as easy for n00bs as possible, with forum rules posts etc

But Yahtzee then. Well, I don't know cause I wasn't there, but trustful sources game me this explanation: He began to hevae like a complete ass and when people we're really pissed off, he came forward and said that it was all a joke, which pissed people off even more.

Andail:
I share the suspicion that CFSF might be more than just a newbie with a pet peeve on his mind...

anyway, I looked through lots of Yahtzee's posts some time after I had joined, to make my own judgement.
Of course it wasn't like all his posts were "shut up, fucking newbie, I rule you all and one day you'll thank me"....
but the tendency was there. I read his grandiose fare-well-letter, and I read his info on the community list, which is pretty much enough to draw a few conclusions.

DGMacphee:
Andail, I agree... Reading CSFS's last post seemed very strange...

Especially this line:

--- Quote ---It's purely humourous, I assure you... of course, being from England probably helps my perspective a little
--- End quote ---

For some reason, it seems a very odd thing to say...

Could CSFS perhaps be...

No, he couldn't...

Nah... I'm just imagining things...

Esseb:
Sorry to chime in here, but Trap, seeing as the crows nest got started from scratch again, your games are not in the new games list. They looked really interesting, got them on the net somewhere?
