Some screenies:

As much as I tried to make game as nice as I wannted and bug free, It may still contain a lot of bugs I didn't found during tests.
As it become very complicated in some parts (to script.). My English is not among the best neither, so be prepared to face my poor english :).

There are few different solutions to some problems...

I hope you enjoy the game.

You could have asked me or some other english speaker to review your game and report any grammatical errors or any new bugs to you. I would have been happy to proof-read your game before distribution.  ;D

Good-looking games barely ever get finished. It says a lot on your behalf that you stuck with the project for so long (and kept up the quality).

Excellent stuff. From GUIs and dialogues to graphics and animations.

Congrats.

This is great. I agree with Scummy, could do with some proofreading, and there are a few hotspots with no name or with "Hotspot #" as the name.

I kept thinking it was going to be over, and then a new area opened up. Good stuff!

The elevator button, either on floor 9 or 26, is "hotspot 2".

And the videos didnt play for me either.

Still, this is a very impressive game, I love the backgrounds especially.

That guy who redid the speech and stuff for your Project Xenophobe, do you think he could do the same with this one? No offence, but the way you write leaves some to be desired, and it detracts from what seems to be otherwise a pretty good game. Your strengths and weaknesses are very apparent - it'd be a good idea to get someone else to handle the "weaknesses". ;)

Hi Sektor 13.

Although you mentioned in some local forum (joker  ;D) that the game is quite short - 2 hours of playing - I don't find it so.
I'm losing my nerves in first room (or part) of the game. Damn stone table.

Wow, impressive.
Not through the graphics, sound or dialogues, the design choices are just so clever. The possible talk through the radio is one of those or the possibility to talk about inventory items and things you noticed. Nice touches.
Well, I haven't played it for long, but I like it that there are some unusual ideas in it. You use the possibilities! One of the few AGS games I will probably really play, although I hate StarGate....

As a guy that's watched a lot of Stargate (Except the last series - dammit!) It's a thrill to play this game!

If this game had been made seven years ago it would have been something you'd buy in the shops.

Sure the english is quite unintentionally funny and poor, but at least it's IN english! I would have sobbed if it was only in foreign!

Played it for half an hour so far, and it's one of the best AGS games I've played.

I've finished the game yesterday, and I must say I've enjoyed every second. Like Ozzie, I really like your refreshing design ideas. Well thought custom UIs are always better than the generic ones as they seem to fit a lot better with the game atmosphere.

Loved the...

...goa'uld puzzle with cristals. Through solving it, I've discovered that I DEFINETLY couldn't be part of any SG team.  ;) Took me 1 hour to solve it. More than enough time to get everybody in the team killed.

A true delight to my eyes. Fix the grammar stuff, and this will be one of the best games I've ever played around here. Congratulations. I hope you're planning to make more games.  8)

Hahahaha! That's always a possibility.

Oh by the way, as sometimes there are multiple solutions for some problems, you don't need to use crystals to open that doors, there is another way...
I felt, sometimes, that I was leaving things behind. For example: that pipe in the same room as the cristals. Plus, the force field in the other door. The escaped creature...  Is there more than one ending to this game?

Now, back to the game to find the easter egg...  ;D

At first I was trying to make multiple ending, but in the end i gave up, so there is only one end scene.

This is an incredible game! Reminds and rivals those I enjoyed playing so long ago.

Problem is, you never know if you have everything you need. I am stuck where Anubus is using the crystals on me and I don't know what the special thing is.  :-[  ;D

I went back to find the Easter Egg but haven't so far. Will I know what it is for sure?

This is awesome. I would be happy to take the time to correct some of the English. It really needs only a little tweaking.

Thanks for making this. Hope I'm smart enough to figure it out.

I also got that error but upon trying to load a saved game. The thumbnail was missing but the name was there. When I tried to load it anyway, it crashed. Upon going back in however, the thumbnail was back.

Please don't get discouraged over these couple of little things.

It is obvious that you spent a lot of time with creating the plot and dialog. You did a great job.

I think I also got the Easter Egg in SGC.

But I still can't get what "special" thing I need for Anubis.  >:(   ;)

Blank !=??? I think you need to use Windows Word (2003), I think WordPAd will not show the correct results.

Just finished you game, and thought it was very good, although with just a few alterations, it could go from very good to great.
Nothing that other people haven't said; mainly the grammer could do with being changed, although it isn't 'that' bad, so maybe just keep in mind for future games that it's best to get someone to work ont he grammer before you release the game.
Other than that i thought the plot was good, puzzles quite easy, but different from the standard, so more interessting than most games.
Im looking forward to your next game, you've really got great gaming potential, and you should be very proud of all the work you put into this one. :)

Yes, because on some pages  posted permanent link, so I renamed v 1.1 to the same name and replace the older one on the server, so that the link will always work.... I don't think this will couse problems..

Yes, same problem here, as it appears it was somehow saved as white text on a white background... But, the text is there, you just need to select/highlight the whole document, then you can change the text-color to a darker color to fix.

Sektor 13:  Congrats on the release of your game. Excellet job from what I've seen so far. I haven't had a chance to play through it too much yet, but when I get a chance, I'll spend more time with it and perhaps post some more comments about it.

Not to the actual database, please, it's more of an archive-to-go-to-if-the-links-are-broken. It's not my place, so I wouldn't like more than necessary use of bandwidth. But feel free to add it as a mirror here in the thread, just make sure it's the last link (so hopefully people will try the others first).

Finished it! It is very well made. It was lot of fun to play it, while waiting for new episondes in the movie series.
Characters are well constructed, they speak and act like the real ones. I think they do the best job that place the game so close to the movie.
Lot of action also, like one of those important episodes, where many characters get involved. Very dynamic.
Nice music - you got it from the movies (very similar) or writed it for the game?
Great art and puzzles.

SPOILERS
The final was a little too fast - I was expecting do do more to defeat Anubis. I was kinda stuck until I've separated my cristal and I didn't quite understand how he died touched by my cristal.
Also there are many objects that the player don't get to use (maybe because some of them are to be used for different solutions). A lot of false hope for me:) For further games, I would advice to minimize their number. Even for more solution paths, try to give the player only what he needs.

When I didn't managed to separate the cristal, I started to use all that I have on everything else... give the brush to Anubis crossed my mind :) even tried to pay him (had 4 coins left). And I really missed the lantern or the lighter, in the computer dark hole... Also I've blasted the door, and then fixed the cristals that did just some clicks - I was hoping they refered to the shilded door.
SPOILERS END

All together it is a very nice game.
I hope you make more games about SG1 because it's universe is very suitable for adventure games and you seem to get them right.

Just finished - great game, thanks!
Some of the puzzles were a bit random, but overall very enjoyable.

For the manual, there are images for the background that don't show up with the version of Word I'm using unless I set it to web layout view. I presume that's why most people can't see it. PDF is probably the way to go if you must have the backgrounds. It's a nice looking manual!

[EDIT] for Sergio: yes, you could save it as html, but then you'd lose the page layout.

I'm not a big Stargate fan, but this game was a lot of fun to play.  Great graphics from start to finish, although I didn't hear any music/sound at all.  Was this just a glitch with my system?  I also have to give credit to some tricky puzzles as well as the fact that there are multiple ways to get past obstacles.  Very nice!

No problem, I must only put the pieces together, as some part is written in old coding and some in new one (2.7->).

The game looks (and plays) great! I need some help with the stone table and the power module (silly me), I talk to Teal'c and he only says that the fourth symbol is like the iluminated symbol.

Some suggestions, can you make that double-clicking on room exits automatically go to the next room instead of walking the whole way? And also stop talking when clicking in the "action area" would be a great addition to the gameplay (IMHO, of course).

Keep on the good work!

I downloaded it a while back and ran it, and it was so incredibly slow that I decided not to play it.

I went back yesterday and tinkered with the settings. Did you know the standard package you can download from the mirror from RUI (the other link doesn't seem to work at all), is set to 640x480 and no sound? MIght want to check your configs :)

Anyway, setting it to 320x240 and sound on made it run fast enough, and finally the sound and music worked.

The first planet gives me a "The Dig" feeling. Which is one of my most favourite games ever, due to its atmosphere. The investigating of alien ruins was awesome. The station situation was kind of awkward, as there's a lot of room to walk, but not that much to do - so a lot of useless walking was involved. Getting the Shill Harm Crystal was kind of... easy. It felt a bit rushed, but that might not be the case. The puzzles on the base on the Vulcanic Planet were really nice, but the defeat of Anubis was kind of... lacking as well.

It wasn't the "HOO HAH! I FINISHED THE EVIL WARLORD" kind of ending that I'd sort of wanted after my heroic deeds of awesomeness :P

But all in all, I loved it. I can't wait until you make your next game.

Also, I wrote a Walkthrough for the game :P
Still here.

Wow, this game had probably the best graphics I've seen in an AGS game. There's a few things I would like to comment though (apart from the much needed grammar fix):

1. Why did the game come with both sound and music turned off by default (inside winsetup.exe)? I played through over half the game thinking the game had no sound :(

2. Walking speed made my rip my hair out. Either give the player the opportunity to double click to skip to the next screen, hold a button to speed up the game, or allow the possibility to increase the walking speed.

But by all means, a good game!

Edit: Ah, pressing ESC, I wish I would have known this playing the game, though. I don't think a lot of people will find out about it, as I haven't seen it in any other adventure games. Surely a double-click will be more accessable for the average gamer?

Looking through previous posts, I still don't know why the game should come with all sound options turned off... Am I missing something here? :(

Indeed this is one great game. It has been a long time since i have seen such a good well balanced and creative game. I cant say that i have played all of it, but it is quite fun.

If anything the only part i found frustrating was walking around the base trying to find something to do. But other than that it was great.

Excellent i hope i see more of your games.

Looks great. But is it possible to run under Linux? I have tried to install the Linux client, but on the same place in the intro I get a "Error: Unable to create local script: Runtime error: unresolved import 'pxDrawSprite'" error message.

There are 3 metal pieces in the game.

As far as i know, Linux doesn't support PLUGINs, but my game uses them. :(

Great game!
Im realy glad to finaly play a nice adventure like in the old days (Indiana Jones: Atlantis anyone?)

even though I never watched SG movies or series.

But I have one problem/question
can someone help me what to do after I solved the puzzle in the ruins (where you go down in the hole and rescue your friends) on the planet (Chumar is it?) I sppose you need to put water into the hole, but I cant seem to grab the water with anything I got. A hint would be great :)

How long till version 2 with the spelling and grammar fixes?

I'm a huge stargate fan and the game has really nice graphics and atmosphere, but the spelling and grammar really let it down. Not to sound critical, but I don't want to play this game until it's fixed so I can have the best gamming experience with it.

You can use ESC button to skip character walk.  Maybe they move a bit slow, but it looks more realistic . I will see how hard would be to add walk speed level option.

I just finished the game and i have to say.. awesome job!
i cant wait for a grammar fix and i hope that the person fixing the grammar
is also a stargate fan so that the characters will sound alot like their tv counterparts.

furthermore i found some bugs and i have some suggestions that might enhance the game.

these bugs might spoil the game for some so i used spoiler tags to prevent anyone from seeing a hint or something.

Bug #1 -
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
after the robot eh clone thingy chases me i lured him into the teleport rings,
after that i pushed him off the cliff and went back into the building, however the Jaffa i killed
earlier was laying right there on the floor again, because of that i could not leave the room  anymore,
i could however still load an older savegame.
i retraced everything i did and the problem lies indeed with the cliff pushing, because the bug only apears after i do that.

Bug #2 -
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
using the shill harm crystal while viewing the console panel or while viewing the Engravings will lock up the entire game, no loading is possible.

Bug #3 -
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
not really a bug but still neccesary to know, since the grammar fix will change
O'Neall into O'Neill you might want to change the KIA screen, it still says O'Neall there.

Suggestion #1 -
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
I was standing on the lava planet with the MALP and it struck me as odd
how it would be so quiet there, maybe adding some sounds of bubbling lava as background
noise would enhance the gaming experience?

Suggestion #2 -
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
The ending is kinda short.. i also felt like i missed something, for example
i couldnt find the 3rd metal object so i couldnt open the coffin in the engravings room,
i was kinda hoping Thor would be in stasis there, but the ending said he wasnt there at all.

Suggestion #3 -
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
as soon as you leave the 1st planet and come back at SG HQ through
the Stargate you see the Iris open up,
I felt the Iris could use maybe some more frames when opening, it looks kinda strange at the moment.

I hope that the bugs i found and the suggestions i gave will prove usefull,
i enjoyed your game very much and i hope you will make a sequel :)

Hi there. My name's Martin, and I'm the one currently working with the SGA script, proof-reading it for grammatical and spelling errors, and attempting to work in more consistent characterisation. In most cases I'm getting good results with all of this, though in one or two spots this script is going to need more work after it's put in-game. Reason? There aren't any names attached to the lines in the script, except for when one character mentions the other in casual speech, so in several cases I'm making guesses as to who is saying what. It's not hard to deal with when the conversation participants are Jack, Daniel, or Samantha, but I've been working particularly hard to get Teal'c sounding, or, rather, reading, much closer to his TV counterpart (i.e. he almost never uses contractions in speech, so "isn't", "wasn't", "can't", "don't", "won't" and "doesn't" are all out, for one thing).

General Hammond can be a bit of a bitch, too, but at the very least he's easier to write for than Teal'c. :P

I'm hopeful that I've managed to get through this without a screw-up, but the odds are not in my favour when there are so many lines of conversation. You guys and girls can help me catch those errors when the script becomes a part of 1.2.

Speaking of which, I should have this script done within the next twenty four hours.

Hey there. Down to the last fifty or so lines now. My singlular concern is that I haven't messed up any of the script variables, since I corrected a few of the inventory item names and things like that. I tried to avoid anything that looked like a graphical variable, and I think it should be OK, but if there is a problem we can go through it and fix those up quick smart. See you on the far side.

Just so you crazy kids know, the translation's done, it's finished, it has been put to bed, the case has been closed, rested, and buried in the backyard. I've sent off to Sektor, I hope he likes it, and if not, I can always make some more corrections. With luck on my side, though, it should be coming to an SGA release near you. Peace out.

Woohoo! I will play this... but I think it is wise to wait until I've watched all SG1 episodes first so that the game doesn't spoil anything. I'm on season 5 now so if I watch one episode every day... oh that will take forever! I think I'll try the game anyway.

Just looking at the updated front page. 1.2b, here we come. Also, looking at the list of changes for 1.2b, shouldn't that death screen be O'Neall to O'Neill, not vice-versa? :P

yes:) as it says:
Fixed death screen that says Jack O'Neill, not O'Neall.

a could change it to:
Fixed death screen that now says Jack O'Neill, not O'Neall ... a bit more understandable :)

I think torrenting and the AGS network have a pretty bright future together, hajo, it makes a lot more sense than all this scattered temporary storage. We just need to get some workstations churning away with the complete .torrent file running, and people can choose what they want to download by selective download priority assignment (or else, if they have a low-fi BT client, or are lazy, they can just download the whole gigatorrent :P).

And I'm downloading 1.2 now, should be done in a second, I'll play through and see if there any script changes to be made. I hope not. :P

OK, so, as I thought, the vast amount of grammatical errors I'm seeing from my translation are to do with Teal'c. Mostly, that was because translation files do not name characters, they just roll down the page line after line, and so in several cases I've found he uses contractions because I thought that was a line for Jack, Sam or Daniel. Those I've noted and will fix. Also, there's a stupid error at the start where the characters mention finding another hologram before that one. That'd be because, in the translation file, everything is not in chronological order, but I assumed that it was until I got towards the end of the script and realised things were out of sequence, so I'd already written one hologram scene by the time I got to that one. D'oh. I'm still playing through this, if anyone finds any glaring mistakes, PM me with them and I'll add them to the list.  :(

Er, Hajo, while it's a good solution, not everyone uses torrents. So it's not a clear-cut alternative, and should definitely not be the sole (or maybe even the first) resource of the game uploader.

rui, i wasn't all too serious. but i don't see why people refuse to use torrents, especially when lacking a good upload site.
i, on the other hand, refuse to download from sites like rapidshare because they annoy me greatly. there's no real reason not to use torrents, there's even a server which is getting every uploaded torrent automatically and acts as a seed :P

just replayed the entire game again (helps when you know what to do)
and i'd just like to mention how much the game has improved with the fixed script.

:)

however i came across some things that i felt were worth mentioning.

Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
The story that is being told in the intro doesn't look right, it looks like its not

formatted properly,
its like its overlapping other text, i added a pic to show what i mean.
http://img22.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wtfstargate3lg.jpg

you misspelt "Dialing" you wrote "Dialling"

The next bug takes place after Sam fixes the DHD and Daniel comes over to help with

the secret room,
by then the DHD has been repaired, yet when looking at or trying to use the DHD

O'Neill will still say that its broken.

After you solved the Stone Tablet puzzle you can still talk to Sam about it, yet

when you do it seems as if O'Neill still hasn't solved the puzzle.
this also happens with the other puzzle's
I dont really know if this is a bug or just something that isnt really important,

(or if maybe even the lucasarts games had it)
but it struck me as odd.
a similair thing happens after getting the crystal on chulak in that basement room,
O'Neill can still ask Daniel about how to get the crystal and Daniel will give

hints.

After you fix the Star Gate and you look at it or try to use it O'Neill will still

claim that its broken,
even though you just used the DHD to dial home to get help from Daniel.

when hovering over the "Device" that came out of the ground the cursor will change
into an upwards arrow, like there's a door there or a way up.
(could have something to do with me changing the cursor to "icons" in the menu.. but

not sure about that)

after Daniel arrives on the planet i can no longer go left past the MALP.
but the arrow that points left is still there.

when you reach Teal'cs former house and knock on the door,
maybe there could be a knocking sound to make it feel more realistic?
and maybe a sound when he closes the door? (i believe the indy games and monkey

games had this)

when you are the crypt where the crystal is hidden there are two torches there,
I refilled my bottle and tried to put the second torch out just like i did with the

first,
O'Neill just said "nope that doesn't work" or "and that should do what?"
maybe you could get O'Neill to say something like "I'd rather not do that, it would

be completely dark here and i might fall off the stairs.."
would be a good reward for the persistent adventurer  ;)

On the volcanic planet the lava bubbling sound seems to be of low quality,
i hear repeating static..

"some sort of Jaffa statue, holding something in right hand"
shouldn't that be "holding something in HIS right hand" or "holding something in ITS

right hand"?
not sure about that, my native language is not English, but i felt it was worth

mentioning.

Also since i knew what to do i was able to try out all the other ways to reach my

goal,
and i have to say.. very cool to put multiple solutions in  8)

crap.. using the hide option messes up the formatting of my text, sorry about that.

Re: Stargate Adventure - released !
Hey

Thanks for so many spoted mistakes, i will see what i can do.

Except the LAVA bubble sound, it isnt static but sound of close "burning" sound, maybe it looks like a static because the sound volume is very low. And it was only decent bubbeling sound i could find :D .

By the way, did you find TONGs ?

EDIT:
I forgot, as I remember that dialog picture becomes colorless if you already done that, what should be asked in dialogue, the same thing happens if you talk about it. I think :)

Vamp, nice pick up on the statue error, my mistake, must have missed that line on my way through. And I saw the text overlap, myself, but I wasn't sure if that was just a display error caused by my, ahem, fucking around with the resolution.

The thing about dialling/dialing is less clear-cut, however, as, being Australian, I tend towards British/European over American spelling, but that was an automatic reaction of mine, and considering that the protagonists are 3/4 American (Teal'c is a tough one to peg :P), I'd be better to revert to American spelling. Good pick. I'll start work on Translation: Round Two, when it looks like all the mistakes have rolled in for correction, plus my own critical examination. Cheers!

I fixed most of the bugs Vamp discovered, including "text diplay overlap", not it is showen correcty !
This happened because some text was added, and the boundaries of the "text overlay" were to small and off ligned.

So the current next version will be 1.21.

edit:

-Bug fixes in v1.21:
-Added sounds for knocking, opening and closing the doors in Chulak
-Different speech text after the DHD is fixed in the first mission (when looking at DHD, Stargates)
-Fixed text overlaping in intro scene (bug from version 1.2)
-Added extra speech when using empty or full bottle on the torch fire in Shill Harm tomb
-Fixed incorrect color (first planet) of the device which holds the Z.P.M after sunset (from gray to

redish)
-cursor will no longer change to UPARROW when hovering over the "Device" (that holds the Z.P.M.)

and, uh, thanks for updating and supporting this game.....

note, that there will be a download-limit. normaly this is 50 mb per hour (or less, if you had downloaded these 30mb in an hour, you are able to download the next piece in the next hour (or try to change your ip-number, that could also work)

I have to say while I love Stargate, and was very excited to play Stargate Adventures, the adventure, so to speak, left me wanting.  If I were to offer some positive advice, I would say that increasing the length of the game (adding one or even two more planets before reaching the fire planet) would be a good starting point.  When I ran into Anubis and defeated him, I was left with a "Huh?  Izzat it?" inner dialogue with myself.  This game can be so much more.

One minor complaint - there were a lot of objects that seemed to have little or even no use.  Are there multiple ways of doing things in this adventure?  The reason I ask is I found many things pointless... the statue, the Chulak fruits, the Chulak birdcage, the red crystal, etc. and I still beat Anubis.

Finally, the victory over Anubis I think needs a little work - if Anubis hits YOU with the power of THREE Crystals and it doesn't kill you, how come you can absorb the power of ONE Crystal, and defeat the Goa'uld Lord?

I hope you don't consider this knit-picking, I am a big Stargate fan, and I would love to see more "Stargate Adventures."

If you ever have need of a writer, let me know, I could come up with some seriously good stuff *grin*

Take care!

Hi

Well I agree that the game is too short, but after all, i was working almost alone and it took me very long .
Some object in the game are useless, but not all you have listed.
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
Like red crystal or chulak birdcage - you can use them both But as the game has FEW different solutions to each problem, some objects cannot be used. You can use birdcage to trap a bird (you must fill the hole with water below the cage so that mud stops the fall and cage doesn't break. You can sell the cage for some money...

As for the power of crystals, it is all explained to you by the Asgard, their crystal is more powerfull as they made only one (you have that one).

Thanks for your comments, the sure are welcome. I agree that many aspects of the game could be much better, but in the end, if you spent a half of a year on a game, you loose your interests and the final product is always worst that you would expected. But i still think it should be a good game.

As for now, the version 1.21 is final, i don't expect any more releases, only translation file, which will be "upgraded" for even better grammar.

I totally understand... as I said I'm a big fan of Stargate, and if it helps, I haven't played through an entire Adventure Game in a long time.  Playing Stargate Adventures has "whet my appetite" so to speak for Adventure games, and I'm starting to play some of these wonderful AGS games.

Half a year?  Wow!  Anyway, I loved the effort - my favorite feature I think was the radio, I loved the ability to call up team mates to communicate with them.

As far as I know, you cannot make TRA file if you don't have the source...

By the way, you must put translated lines below the original line, you must not overwrite original speech.

I really doubt it. Walking around to the right places alone constitutes more than 15 minutes. It could probably be possible, if you skipped all cutscenes, dialogs and used some kind of scene teleportation device :).

Edit

Well sorry to dissapoint you guys but I have managed to NOT finish the game in 15 minutes.

I have only made it to the this place in 15 minutes....

And guess what thats skipping everything including walking! Yes you heard right walking can be skipped!
Just pres escape after selecting your destination and voila you teleport to point of selection.

The sad thing is he wouldnt of solved anything that fast becuase he wouldnt of read anything saw anything etc... This would make it very hard! Gee I didnt even get to the hard puzzles yet.

Oh, last one is correct, it should be no spaces (except the default, if you don't translate).

I think we have a problem, i fixes some of the translation errors in your file and convert it to TRA, but game doesn't work as your text contains some character that are not in the font (likey Y with comma above), so i don't know how will we make this work correctly :S.
I removed some lines from your translation as they were not needed (graphical variables and stuff )

Here is TRA file if you can make it work:
http://freeweb.siol.net/zagar413/KZ/preklad.tra

Here is updated TXT file (fixed a bit):

First of all, the piece of glass. I couldn't find any use for that.

Then the crystals. I tried to do lots of stuff with them in the panel, but nothing really did anything. I don't think I got them all in so that all the pipes would've been, eh lit. Does that do something, like disable the forcefield, or open the door as an alternative to the c4, or is it just... There...

Oh, and then there was the fruit and the brush. Didn't do anything either...

Piece of glass is useless , i was trying to use it for something but i didn't :), so goes for the fruit. Brush was meant to be tottaly useless and it is :). But the crystal can be used to open that big metal door that you blowed with C4.
By the way, you could pick up the tong and piece of bread, both could be used or not, depends on the way you wanted to solve some riddles.
Another thing, ther is secret key in the Stargate Command  (2nd mission), to open "easter egg" with it, just to let you know.

Ok dokey !

It took me about two hours + a bit more :) to fix the Checz translation to be suitable for the game, and as far as i have tested it, it work fine !!!!

so here it is:
http://freeweb.siol.net/zagar413/KZ/Czech.tra

IF any editing will be made, please change this file:
http://freeweb.siol.net/zagar413/KZ/Czech.txt

What did i change in the original txt:
Some of the sentances were put together (by accident, as the dot was still ther :) )
1 or 2 translation sentances were in wrong order, Czech was first and english second..
I had to delete all blank lines, as there must be no empty line if translation is made !
Added "/" to one of the comment line (it took me a lot of time to figure it out)(possibly accidentaly delete)
I changed the line "press Space to continue" as the Czech translation didn't fit on screen !
I have replaced "grammar" fix lines with Czech translators (and remove them from "story" part, -> well you will see int the game :).

Hello,
I am Linux user and I have tried to run Stargate Adventure with Linux port of AGS. If I choose New game in menu, then after titles (with flying Ha'tak spaceship) it crashes with this error message:

Code: Adventure Game Studio
  1. Error: Unable to create local script: Runtime error: unresolved import
  2.  'pxDrawSprite'

Do you know where is error and how can I fix it? Or can you fix it? I have AGS version 2.71.894. Every other AGS games I have tried works without problems.

I think there is a problem with "parallax" plugin. It is needed when stars are flybying in the intro scene. I can remove it and post it without this plugin if you want ?

Yes, please post version without it here and I will try it. This parallax plugin is something separate? I am asking because I think that Linux version of AGS have exactly same features as Windows version. Maybe I can send some bug report to Linux port AGS developers then...

Thanks, Mikos

As far as i know, this is common problem, that AGS game don't run in Linux if they use plugins (custom code)

Thanks for the effort. I use Linux too and would like to play this game.

Unfortunately, I get a "Shutting down Allegro due to signal #11 - Segmentation fault" crash.
What version of AGS is this new version compiled with?

Btw, without the plugin you wouldn't need to distribute the alleg40.dll file, AFAIK it is only needed by the plugin.

Re: Stargate Adventure - (version 1.21)
version is 2.70.601. I can't use newer version because i use old "module" for savegames with screenshots, which doesn't work with latest versions.

I thought that AGS automaticly deletes obsolete modules in games directory !?

And I have no idea whats the story with "alleg40.dll" . I don't use any module with this name.. !?

Hmm must be some connection with your "allegro" error and this alleg40.dll file..

Re: Stargate Adventure - (version 1.21)
Found the error: In the setup, the translation was displayed as "English*" where * is a rectangular symbol, probably a special character that cannot be displayed.
Anyway, I chose "English" (without the special character) again from the drop down list, saved, and now it works.
Maybe it has something to do with line breaks in the acsetup.cfg text file. They're different in Windows and Linux. I'll tell the AGS Linux developer to take a look at it.

And as I said, you don't need the alleg40.dll file, it's the allegro library that is used by some plugins. Since you don't use plugins in this version, you don't need this (Windows-only) dll.
And the winsetup.exe is not needed as well. The AGS Linux version provides the setup program.

Thanks again for your efforts. It's appreciated!

Edit:

The game manual is in Microsoft Word-format only and it looks really messed up in both OpenOffice.org and even Office XP. So I've tweaked it a bit, spellchecked it a little and made it into a PDF: http://www.strazer.net/ags/SGAManual.pdf.zip (219kb)

Hi, Sektor. Love the game.

I'm a little ashamed to admit this, but...I'm stuck on the sliding puzzle in the ruins. I know how to move everything, but the funnel won't open, even when I connect the top to the bottom. I read the walkthrough, but it refused to show a picture of what the solution should look like. Could you possibly take a pic of it? Thanks.

I am trying to play this game, and I have actually succeded in doing so once, where I got to the long dialogue when the whole team arrived.

I took a break and when I tried to turn the game back on, it simply crashes during the intro. I found out that you had used some plugins and went and downloaded them, but with no luck. Game still crashes during intro...
I get no real error message simply a: "You want to send an error report?"

Do you have ny idea what this could be?

Hi Sektor 13,
Thanks for the game, it seems very good.
However there is one little thing that i don't like: after the great first scene in the ruins there are several automatic dialogs (without interaction). English is not my native language and after some minutes of text I started to quickly left click skipping the dialogs... then, OMG, suddenly a scary timer appears and I don't know why. :D :D
In short, in my opinion very long automatic dialog, are boring. ;)

Thanks again for your game, and surely I will play again the game because it seems funny... this time I will read all the dialogs :)

Hi

Well, I need a lot of "text" to explain some  situations, and as is common for SG is that you get some longer explanations in the series too. I guess we all have to live with it :).

I just need to butt in and say that if English is not your native language... no, let me generalize. If the game's language is not the player's language, and if he doesn't want to tax his language skills too much... well, it's an adventure game. Most of these are heavy on dialog and text. Better not play the game at all. I'd love to play "Der verschwundene Husky", and all the Maniac Mansion Mania games, but I just can't until I know the language better - my current level of german simply isn't enough, and therefore I can't blame the game's makes for making it that way.

Also, the player doesn't really have to right to shocked or surprised by an event such as a timer or an inventory item being added without his knowledge if he's going to go around skipping text. If you skip pages of a book, are you going to complain to the author about how confusing the story got?

In fact, let me take the analogy a step further - if you were reading a foreign book, in a language you mostly understood but not really excelled in, and skipped long bouts of description/dialog/whatever, then whose fault is it if you end up not getting the story at all?

Joe, please don't take offence - this isn't directed at you. Your post simply got me thinking about all these points, and I thought I'd share.

I hope this isn't off-topic.

...

...it is. Damn. Ah well, to make it on-topic - Sektor, the best thing you can do is, as you've been doing, to get someone else to "translate" your text. I love your art, I really like your game design, et al, and the one thing that drags me down is your own original text. Let me be blunt - you're not a really good writer (talking about TEXT, not about STORY or DESIGN). Let me be blunter - you're rather bad at it. Let me be even blunter still - you have obviously recognized it, and rather than giving us a less-than-polished product marred by your inability to write ('s ok, I can't draw a straight line to save my life. Hope I never have to), you've allowed someone else to take over, someone skilled in that area. Not everyone can recognize their low points like that, and not everyone can allow someone else to step in at that point and complement their own work. This was very noticeable in Project Xenophobe, but it's also quite clear here. Kudos to you, for not letting some of your under-developed skills getting in the way of making a great game.

Better not play the game at all.

Hi Rui,

Well, obviously you are right. In fact I quitted and not played... yet ;)
I've just explained the reason, as a feedback for Sektor 13. I thought could be useful to him, but he can use my feedback as he wants... It's only my little single opinion, not a "complain" at all. :)

Generally I love dialogs, but not the automatic one (even in my own language), because i prefer to interact with a game (puzzles and talking with other characters), not simply watching the monitor.

In this game I think that the "in action talking system" is fantastic (ie talking via radio, show to other objects, and so on).  As you can see is not a problem of the amount of text, but the time I watch the monitor without interact. And since English is not my native language, this time is a bit longer...

But please not misunderstand me, the game has many good quality such the graphics, the setting in SG universe, and the already mentioned talking system.
I hope my bad english allow me to explain correctly my opinion, if this appear to somebody rude please accept my apologize :)

I found a bug:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
There's a door that can be opened with C4 and with some kind of metal symbols.
If I put 2 symbols in place, then set the C4, then add the last symbol, the door opens, but the C4 remains floating in the air (and maybe exploding, I loaded so I dunno this).

Hey Sektor 13 i had a great time with your game. So great, in fact, that i am creating an SG1/SGA game! Not in AGS, I'm using a game called "Notrium" which is a completely moddable top-down shooter. So my question is where did you get your sounds for the Gate dialing and other Stargate sounds? If you could email me or even PM me at the Notrium website forums as JDIZZLE or just reply to this message in this forum i would be deeply grateful. Thank you for your time and i hope to hear from you soon. CYA!

There were more problems with this and it has to do with the xvid codec and other applications installed. There isn't really a clear solution but there are some suggestions to try.

I just played this game and I liked it. As a fan of Stargate, I can say the dialog seems accurate for the characters. The characters' faces looked accurate even though they looked kind of funny. I meant that in the good way. :) Puzzles weren't that hard but were interesting. Finally, the artwork looked real compared to other games.

If possible, you should get the cast from the TV show to do the voices. All three TV shows of Stargate (SG-1, Atlantis, Universe) are no longer making episodes.

Hi,

thanks a lot for this incredible adventure. I'm a fan of SG-1/SGA/SGU and it has been implemented amazingly.

I know that exists a Spanish translation for this game. I would like to improve and update it, adding special/punctuation charts (I think it would be possible after 9 years of AGS, or even using another chars outside of this 256 charset for a font, right?), and if possible, changing also in-game images with english texts into Spanish or even justifying texts of big letters fonts.

Could it be possible?

I'm a known translator for old style games in www.clandlan.net, with the same nick I have here.
Let me know, please.

Best regards,
David.
