Help Knight and Squire do stuff.

Very short game.

Download Here

Edit: Forgot to say, I made a lame game beginning of year for a coding competition, this is the remake of it. I don't know if this one is better or lamer, but eitherway here it is.

KristjanMan

Nice graphics! I seem to be so dumb that im stuck:

I have squire on the roof with the broken flag. What next?

Anyways, I'm almost through, I think. Looks great so far! Fun game!

Chicky

Yay, that was a fun five minutes. Lovely graphics, characters inspired by discworld at all?

MashPotato

An enjoyable game! ^_^
Spoiler
I liked how the knight refused to even bend over and pick up that rock, and made his squire do it instead... and then made his squire carry the princess... what a jerk!

The graphics and music were both charming and fit the game very well.  A great job all around--and Buloght, no it is not at all "lame" ^_^

i k a r i

Wow...
The graphics are beautiful, really. I loved this game, thanks a lot.
QuoteWell, one think is not liking him, and the other is making humour of the retarder people!
Nacho speaking of Bush.

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

Throughly enjoyable. Somehow, I kept being reminded of Gobliiins - the graphic style, the rooms' layout, the interface... is that intentional?
Reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

Kneel. Now.

Never throw chicken at a Leprechaun.

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

Very nice work on the backgrounds, Buloght.  The low saturation and color selection remind me of a lot of old Amiga games.  This is a good thing!

Nikolas

Really enjoyable!

Thanks buloght.

Oh! DUH! I put a comment, but forgot to mention the lovely and really well made music by Chris-Scorposer! It was very well made and suited the game greatly. :)

buloght

Thanks all  :)

Niko: I didn't want to bother chris with the music for such a small game, so I rather got unoriginal music. The music was all RIPPED!  :)

Rui: No it's intentional, I got the idea first from gobliins, though I didn't use their style, I stole all the colours from gobliins.  :) I did also try and make miniture characters (slightly bigger than theirs), I guess trying to get a slight gobliins feel.

Thanks ikari!

Thanks mashpotato!

Thanks chicky :), the characters weren't inspired by discworld (I think not), but that first puzzle is definitely a reference too it. But the first time I made the game (not the remake) I certainly had Discworld as inspiration, so I guess then yes :).

Thanks for playing Kristjanmam.

Thanks dkh.

Thanks progz!

Nikolas

Maybe then you should get his name out of the readme file, cause it mentions Scorposer as the guy who did music and sound. :)

anyways, lovely game, the fact remains, lovely game.

aussie

Beautiful!

As soon I saw the game author I realised it was bound to be quality stuff. Excellent graphics, original gameplay and nice humor.

Well done, buloght.

PS. One small critique: some of the hotspots are a tiny bit small. It was hard for me to find out how

Spoiler

to get up to the library or into the ogre's tower "opening". Finding the books and the candles also took a bit of mousing over.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.

buloght

Oops, thanks for letting me know Nikolas, chris was going to do music, but I decided not to bother him with something as small as this game. Thanks niko!

Thanks aussie! I agree, I'll make them bigger. :)

Petra

Thank's buloght for another excellent game since your Family Treasure!
Very nice graphics, the music fits well,
and above all no bugs  ;D

Really looking forward to the next one!

Thumbs up, very good job!!!

sthomannch

Yes, it is excellent. Nice graphics and good jokes. Also hope to see more of this soon

guest

Hi, just played this cute little game.
Had a lot of fun during the afternoon.
Have to send my congrats, as graphics, puzzles and humour were just fantastic!

Hope you will do a longer game soon!

magintz

Very nice little game I found some of the navigation a little frustrating; how you couldn't clearly see some of the entrances or exits to the rooms.
When I was a little kid we had a sand box. It was a quicksand box. I was an only child... eventually.

buloght

Thanks Petra  :), sthomannch and guest!

Magintz, thanks for the feedback, I can understand how some of the exists are unclear, I wanted the idea of a cutaway-twisted-room type of game ... or something like, I didn't really design clear doors in there I guess, I guess I thought the rooms are very small and the exits would be obvious as there are only a few of them anyway  :) I think the opening to the tower might be the less obvious, ... I think.

voh

That was fairly awesome. What I disliked was that the descriptions of situations and things wasn't always clear.

Especially with the ogre it was very unclear, as "That will wake him gently, but it's too soon" doesn't give me a single clue as to WHAT it's too soon for.

But other than that it was nice :)
Still here.

CaptainBinky

Played this last night, Buloght - and I really loved it. Neat idea, lovely graphics, just long enough... Top stuff!

A Lemmy & Binky Production

buloght

Thanks guys :)

Voh: I totally agree with you, I gave very few hints. I remember when making it I kept thinking this is far too easy, don't make it too obvious. Hmm, I might have made it too unclear now  :).  I'll make sure to add enough hints in my next games  :-[

thewalrus

I didn't really thing that things were unclear. I really enjoyed playing the game and I think it was really well made. I actually got through it with out having to get any hints about what to do. So YAY me!!!! Keep making great games like this one and hopefully a little bit longer.....

Thewalrus

Gooo, goo, ga, joob!!!!

Thewalrus

"Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come!"

Fisher

Thanks for the cute game!

I really enjoyed it.

Goncis

Well realy good game, reminds me goblins too.. thnx and loking forward to other releases :)

Vlad

Fun game, thanks a lot!

Iv4n

Woah! What an amazing mini game! I like it alot. The graphics are sweet and the music is good. Although the story isn't something original or new, combined with those kind of funny puzzles, this makes a classic.

PureGhostGR

I really liked playing this. The puzzles proved to be alot of fun and the graphics very beautiful.

*claps*

Trully well done! ;)

buloght

Thank you all for playing and commenting  :).

Marion

I love the games Goblins, it's fun to see an AGS game made this way :)
Nice job !!

Wow, looks and plays exactly like Goblins and other Coktel games. Even the end scene is a reminder of Coktel-style endings :) Thanks a lot for this experience!

qptain Nemo

Really nice game! Puzzles are pleasuring to solve, dialogs are fun, characters are cute and music suits well. ;)

emwearz

Really nice game, the graphics style was awsome. Keep up the good work, I hope to see some more games from you in the future.

nihilyst

Again, a very cool game with simple, yet excellent graphics, some good puzzles and lots of atmosphere. Keep it up!

cheers
nihilyst

buloght

Thanks for the kinds comments everyone :).

Ali

I loved the mini-room idea, really inventive. I'd love to see the same principle used in a longer game. This was a very amusing short game, thanks!

cokeiscool

I loved it, the game was lots of fun and very creative, it made me laugh

saluk

This was a lot of fun.  I was a little let down I thought that after doing most of the work the
Spoiler
squire would get the girl in the end, but it kind of leaves an open ending (with the assumption that the knight still gets her.

.  I'd definitely like to see more of this :)

n3tgraph

I think the game is great!  ;D
* N3TGraph airguitars!

Buckethead

Very nice  :D inspires me to make something too  :)

ThreeOhFour

This was fantastic. The backround graphics were fantastic and the characters were lovable. The puzzles all made good sense. Wish it were longer, but most games are never long enough. Good stuff!

buloght

Thanks all for the kind words :).

Afflict

What can I say the game is visaully stunning! The storyline was very cool and the music suited the game perfectly.

I love the characters, they all have personality and are well "polished" The humour in the game is perfect! The Knight is by far the kewlest!

HELP!
Nico

edit: I edited the post to hide the text. just type [ hide ] your spoiler [ / hide ] without the spaces and it'll work.

buloght

Hi :)

Spoiler

There are two candles (left and right on the wall in the tower), you need to pull both with the squire. Then make sure Knight and Squire are in the tower, then let Knight speak with Squire or Squire with Knight.
[close]

Buckethead

That part was pretty un clear IMO , it didn't make much sense to me. I don't get why you made it like that  :P

Tracubetto

Hi!
i was thinked this could be the right solution but haven't tryied it because...

Spoiler
squire understand that candles are levers, but cannot speak with knight, and knight (the stupid one, really realistic!Ã,  ;) :D) can speak with squire but think that candle are just candle

anyway, a great game! :-D

I actually solved in the first time I tried.

I just got into the idea that knight and squire need to work together. Plus he had already given that "hint" into the game.

anyways indeed a not amazingly smooth puzzle, but I think that it was really fair and clever of B to put it in. :)

Buckethead

I must of missed the hint, that's the only part I got stuck at. Oh well , I love the game and it's brilliant!!  ;D

gypsysnail

I HAVE to say something here!!!! For the first time, tonight I unzipped the game and played it (oh I love Friday nights, end of working week, relaxation and game time!!! :D) AND the game exceeded my expectations! I really loved it, not surprising the game won something in the annual awards, I think thats actually how I found the game. Bloody brillant in everything including the puzzle levels, hard but managed to finish the game and I learnt some valuable things from this game - how to make puzzles as hard as I can for players :). I personally think players love getting stuck even if they don't seem like they like it and get frustrated :P - I know I do love getting stuck in a game. Buloght, thank you for such a fantastic game and gorgeous graphics! Truely a pro! I think maybe you should consider making more games like that, on a longer level, and levels of puzzles, the harder it gets, etc... and sell them. Just an idea... :). U got talents there. (I must mention too that there are quite a few talented people on this forum, talents in many areas).
Cheers,
Snail

Thanks buchethead :)

Thanks gypsysnail, you are very kind  :).

gypsysnail

Aw thanks Buloght, I felt I had to say something. Usually if I really feel the person deserves a compliment for their work and I feel they have a talent then I have to say it :):). Anyhow hope you will consider the idea cos I reckon we need more games like Knightsquire, but much longer games ;).

Thanks gypsysnail :). I'm working on something more medium to full length at the moment, but not another Knightsquire type game (and not the family treasure 2).

Afflict

Aha its that umm other game ???

Man you dont know how good it is to hear those words!

"I'm working on something more medium to full length at the moment"

Da_Elf

awwww. i was looking forward to family treasure 2

buloght

It'll still be made, I just got distracted  :), stop bumping my thread and go and make your asterix game  :D

guest

Thank you Buloght for this game!

I finished it very quickly but absolutely loved it :)
Two characters game is really funny.

Hi all ;)

buloght

Snake

Just finished :)

Alright, man, Knightsquire slap's the cat's ass!
I'd love to see a full length game with the same two characters, same concept, same humor and definately the same scene layout. I loved the BGs. The puzzles were fun too. Overall, it absolutely rocked. There were a few times I'd end up laughing at how the Knight treated his squire, I'd laugh and say, "What a dink..."

Very good,Ã,  Buloght := I loved it! It's one of my new favorites.

I want to see more Knightsquire Adventures!

Grim: "You're making me want to quit smoking... stop it!;)"
miguel: "I second Grim, stop this nonsense! I love my cigarettes!"

buloght

:) You are extremely kind snake. I would like to make a longer version in the future but I struggle really bad at coming up with puzzles (for this kinda game) for more than 2 rooms haha. I'll have to hire a puzzlelist  :D

Afflict

Will work for snazzy graphics ;)

Da_Elf

How about knightsquire find himself in the possition of loosing his job since the king needs to cut back on knights in his pay due to not much money comming in from taxes. This is because of giants in the hills who eat the mountain goats that supply the goats milk to the market place, the sea monster who is attacking the fishermen and maybe a few other interesting things. Naturally its up to the knight to save the kingdom.

blueskirt

Add to that a bit of snow and a festival in the kingdom and you're also in line for december's MAGS. But I don't think finding a quest for the Knight and Squire is what will give you a lot of trouble since they could perfectly well be simple, overused and cliché and it would still be a charming adventure. Puzzles is what will surely give you more trouble.

I'd like to thank you, your cute little game gave me a sudden urge to play again Goblins 1 & 2 and Simon the Sorcerer 1 & 2, the second one I just finished for the first time last week-end. I'll probably line up the Discworlds pretty soon since I'm in a fantasy setting mood these days. :)

butters

JUst played through this after playing Family Treasure and i have to say you have some talent  :) Superb visuals and music, great story and a bit of humour. Can't wait for Family Treasure 2 and that "medium to full length" game since i know it will be superb

Thanks for playing guys :)

Da_Elf: That's some pretty cool ideas :) When need be I shall steal your imagination, now go on with your ideas and add puzzles  :D

Blueskirt: Thanks! Discworld 1 remains a favourite for me too!

butters: Thanks! You are very kind.

EDIT: da_elf and blueskirt, I wish I had this kinda help when designing my games :D I always find it hard to get ideas haha. Fortunately for me the two games I am working on both have 100% story and puzzles. Looking forward to your game in production, da_elf!

Lovely game, was shorter than family treasure but still a great friday night game :)

Kinoko

Wow, Buloght, nice! That was fun, cute, excellent graphics, nice and appropriate music... good job! I really, honestly enjoyed that ^_^ I liked the length, personally. It was just long enough to be worth it but also easily finishable in one sitting.
