As a manager of a videogame shop, you will see "grand theft auto" appear on my now playing list on xbox live, BEFORE April 29th  ;D (I hope hehe)

Although according to a customer in my shop, he's already played it. Take it away oh so honest customer:

"I've played GTA IV. It's rubbish. You just take over territories like in San Andreas."

When asked how he could have possibly played it, he wasn't forthcoming with his response.

"I know people"

Do these people give you medicine by any chance?

I have yet to play ANY of the GTA games. Might as well just start with the first one, I guess.
The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!

I believe 1 and 2 are free from Rockstar, or at least they were. Didn't take to them much though. I've yet to play one of the 3D ones, but I'm liking what I've heard of IV so far.

Tuomas

They're free yes.

I personally preferred Vice City of the 3 latter ones. IV looks a bit lifeless, kind of dull atmosphere-wise. Though who am I to judge, I know I won't be able to play it, perhaps never due to the requirements. Though graphics-wise it looks really awesome.

Maybe, just maybe he does know people? I had Guitar Hero 3 weeks before it was released here :D

Stupot

So what were Vice City and San Andreas... kind of spin-off's of GTA3?... actually that would makes sense... because those are the three cities (Liberty City, too) of the first game... sorry just thinking out loud here... Stupot's not all that bright...

No, they simply changed their name to Rockstar.

I personally like the first one and Vice City. The first one is original and I have spent hours on it as a kid, hours of fun. Vice City has good atmosphere. Anytime I play it, I really feel like on Florida in 1980s. That is why I like it. But I am not much into GTA games, because they are too unrealistic to my taste. Its fun, to some extent, but it is helluva unrealistic.

Screw that rule on this forum about needing to contribute to an AGS game in order to post. I can't help it. I'll just post in topixs created by other people and not create them. Mod me or not mods, I don't care...  ;D

In response to this topic, Those that do get it early, I suggest you don't log into LIVE because if you do, you might get banned for getting online with GTA:IV before the release date. Just sign out before playing.

Besides, there won't be much people playing online before release date. Stick with the single player and beat it. After all, playing the single player is the most important part of this game. Multi is like desert.

I too will be getting this game on my 360. My Gamertag is: Psychonauticus for those who want to play with me.  :D

Wait, GTA 4 has online play? That's awesome! How does that work? Kind of like Saints Row?

I played GTA: San Andreas mostly. Everyone was talking about it so much I figured I should try it. And it rocked! I burned solid weeks on that game, just screwing around with friends and whatnot, trying to steal planes from the airport or taking turns seeing how long we can survive at max notoriety.
My favourite pastime was collecting up all the different pimpable cars and pimping them - Slamvan was the coolest...

Actually, I think play GTA online was already possible from GTA 3. You just had to download a patch or something to play online.

Im really looking forward to GTA 4. The grahics look really nice and lovely next gen. Even if it will be alot like SA I will enjoy it. Just because GTA games always have fun to follow stories and missions.

In "cops n crooks" A group of players will play as police, other as criminal, the police must make sure they don't escape alive, they can also see the criminals location ont heir GPS while criminals have no clue as where the police are.

Also in the single player mission "hangmans Noose" there will be co-op, the mission you and your friends will be able to escort a mafia man, while ambushed by the SWAT

But there is one thing Im slightly peeved about and that is They removed PLANES there is still choppers but no planes. They took them out because its NYC and they were afraid of offending people due to 9/11. If that isnt the biggest load of bollocks Ive ever heard I dont know what is!

^ I copied this from some guy on a forum.... I was to lazy to explain the online portion.  :P

Pfffffft. I agree with whoever you copied that from. That is just stupid...
Besides, since when does Rockstar worry about offending people? You can butcher prostitutes and steal their sex money, but you can't fly a plane because someone might be upset?

[Cameron]

Actually, they got rid of the planes because they thought it was too unrealistic that some dude could just jump into a commercial plane and fly it.
Rockstar would hardly be the type to back away from something taboo.

The reason there are no planes is because it's all located in one city - not a huge state area like SA - so flying planes around would be silly.

Anyhoo, I'm not too excited for this. I will play it (as my flatmate has a PS3!) but I don't see how they can revolutionise the gameplay that much. It will probably just be "more of the same" only with fancier schmancier graphics as far as I can tell? Unless it is something truly cinematic and special, I can't see myself being too excited about it.

I like all the other 3D GTAs, but towards the end I was getting a little bored of the format. Large free roaming environments aren't that big news anymore.

I'm terribly upset that there's no PC version. I've played all previous ones and now... this.

I love how GTA IV takes its inspiration from Russian thrillers, such as Bumer and Brat movies/sequels. In one of the videos on GTA IV page, there was even music from one of the films remixed and used...

I would love to play this. Where's PC version?!

Not when I tell you on that same day he told me he sold a UK version of Final Fantasy Crisis Core for psp (thats not out yet) for £100 at a trade shop called Cex.

I can't see them banning people for playing a game that's not released yet. Some shops do sell games to consumers a day or two before it's actual release date, and the suppliers and publishers don't like that. To punish the consumers who could have innocently gone into a shop, seen the game and bought it thinking it's come out early would be wrong.

It will probably be releashed some time after the console version. Just like it was with GTA:SA. It upsets me that everything is so console based these days.  :-\
