I use pidgin, (http://www.pidgin.im/) and I've also used Digsby before, (http://www.digsby.com). Both are very good and allow you to sign in with MSN credentials.

I use Pidgin as well, and I find it's worked better for me than Digsby.

Yeah... I don't know. Digsby is nice but I had to move away from it when I started using Linux more. There are some things in Digsby I wish Pidgin did but for basic operations, they're pretty much the same.

I'm also enough of a nerd to have used Finch on occasion.

I use pidgin too and it works good. Only filetransfer via MSN is not working. At all. So to ask a question in this thread: anyone got sending files via MSN via pidgin working? How?

Edited: Problem has been solved. Solution below.

Has anyone experienced this issue with Twitter on Firefox?

It started several months ago and it's the only site that has this problem. I got tired of trying to figure it out months ago that I ended up downloading Chrome. I decided to move back to Firefox because I still enjoy it better.

The only time it doesn't do this is when I restart Firefox with all Add Ons Disabled. I've gone through and disabled every single add on manually, but it still only only works properly when it's in safe mode. I've reinstalled it twice. I've deleted everything that I had with it. Cookies, Cache, Bookmarks. Everything.

What the hell is wrong with it? I've done a virus scan with Avast! but it hasn't found anything. It's seriously getting me very angry. I want to reinstall windows, if it wasn't such a pain in the ass. Argh.

Edit: I actually thought about looking for the Firefox forum and signed up for an account. Looks like someone else has the same problem. I'm going to read the solutions offered to him and see if it'll help.

Edit2: Damn that's priceless. I discovered the issue is hardware related using their advice. I turned off: Use hardware acceleration when available.
Twitter works like a charm.  Sorry guys!

I am trying to recall the title of a sci-fi short story. I know that:

- the author is probably Philip K. Dick.
- the plot involves an old man taking a test; this is taken at regular intervals by the elderly and assesses whether they are still useful to society or a burden. In the letter case, they are 'terminated'

Hey guys.

Any idea how to get an internet radio lag like 2-3 seconds?

I'm trying to watch a video (sports) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfbL-epgjmU but the narrator is awful. So there's a free radio stream too, but it's 2-3 seconds ahead. Soo... if you know. Is this kind of thing even possible?

VLC player lets you set the audio stream delay of movie files, perhaps it's possible for streams too?!

Could it be related to the Bake Sale? This post is actually a bit too late to be the cause, but maybe the word was spread somewhere a day before?

Hey guys, an idea hit me last night- what about a digital platform for horror games only, like a specialized shop for all (indie mostly)games horror-related?... A quick google search shows there is no such thing yet. Do you think it would take off, or would it be a massive flop?

Too specialised I would say.

Theres no advantage to having a horror-only digital platform when a general one would work just as well.

Digital platforms have no limits so they dont have the same pulls at specialised shops which can only carry so much stock.

It might work if you also offer books, DVDs and stuff. Games alone will not be enough.

I'm looking for free web hosting for a wordpress (it says PHP 5.2.4 or greater and MySQL 5.0 or greater are conditions). I'd basically need it for portfolio and for a good amount of experimenting for modifying themes (most are offering about 5gb of traffic, I'm assuming that's ok, especially if most of the traffic only I am doing by checking the site every half an hour (or minutes) to see if the stuff like style.css is working ok.

http://freehosting1.net/ has good list but I'm not sure how old is that site I'd like to ask from recent experience.

Sites like
http://www.ifastnet.com/
http://www.000webhost.com
awardspace etc.
I'm looking here and not google, because I'd like some personal opinions on traffic space.
In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Is there a website or an app that alerts you of specials or price drops on the Android marketplace?

000webhost is not bad but one day we had an ad appearing out of nowhere on every page. It only advertised payed hosting with the 000webhost service but was annoying nonntheless. After ~2weeks it disappeared. I recommend bplaced.net though. The only 'disadvantage' is that you have to log into your command panel every 2 month, but this should be doable. ~99% uptimes, 2GB storage, unlimited traffic, 2 FTP accounts, lots of MySQL databases, up to date php, adfree, what do you want more?!
