Quiet Haven Hotel was supposed to be just a one night shelter for Joe and Lucy Davis. But things soon start to go wrong. Lucy's panic attacks get worse and soon she disappears. And in the morning hotel changes too. Nothing is what it seems anymore. Joe is left alone, trying to understand what is happening, trapped between reality and the nightmare. Then everything changes again and the world turns black and white. Only the colour of blood is still red... And it's all around him.
While the raging storm outside gets worse by the minute, it turns out the hotel isn't completely abandoned. There's a party on the third floor... but the birthday girl surrounded by her silent guests just keeps crying... The doctor in room 202 is hearing voices coming from the walls telling him to perform a certain experiment... And one girl who is asleep in her bedroom is dreaming a strange dream that soon turns into her worst nightmare...

The webiste doesn't load.

Could you say something about what kind of puzzles are in the game?

Yeah, the demo doesn't show much in relation to puzzle-solving.

Bought it, and downloading it now.  Will post more after I have the chance to play it a bit.   ;D

One question though.  Why do I have to pay $1.49 tax for a download?   ???  If it was hard copy (an actual cd), then fair enough, but why a download?  :-\

So Downfall just went on sale. I'm sorry about the tax- I had no idea about it but this must be the way D2D works. I've never sold a game before:) This is all new to me...

I hope you'll enjoy the game. In my personal experience, when I play games made with AGS I often find myself trying to get into it's maker's head and figure out how they used the editor to put their story together. I'm sure most of us on this forum subconciously- or not- do that. That's why I'm hoping to get some interesting feedback from you guys.

Oh, and new demo can be downloaded here:

Congrats on finishing the game! I've been looking forward to Downfall since it was announced - the unique art style really appeals to me. But is there any chance you could upload the demo somewhere that doesn't require an account?

Yeah, Fileplanet sucks, can't understand why anyone would use it. But here is a useful site to avoid making an account..

First Impressions   :)

First of all, congrats on finishing the game.   :D
Haven't played much yet, but I'm very impressed.
The story intrigues me, and it is well written.
I love the way she talks - reminds me of Dru from Buffy.   :D
Backgrounds are beautiful - I love the art style you used.
Dining room is... unusual, hehe.
Impressive sound effects - footsteps, rain, clock etc.
The music is very haunting at times.

I'm a bit puzzled by
In the first post, you call her Lucy, but in the game she is called Ivy.  Not sure if that's a mistake, or it will be explained later in the game.   :-\

So far, it's a beautiful game.  But (and I'm sorry about this) there seems to be a bug.   :'(
I'm sending you PM about it.

EDIT: PM sent.   :)

Oh my God... I hope this bug isn't too serious... Anyway, thanks for such a positive comments so far. I am so excited about this release!

The name confusion in the start will probably make some more sense later on in the game. I would upload the demo somewhere else, but the portal insisted it's on their website and I don't know where else I could do that- it's on megaupload as well, but I'm worried that if too many people download it at the same time it will clog up and die. Also they only store files for a limited period of time.

All I can say is that Downfall is one of those games that get better the further you are in the game. I have learnt a lot about using AGS and animation, and that's why the best scenes feature a bit later on.

Finished it, with a few peeks at the walkthrough.
I... I have mixed feelings about this, but in the end the experience, the visual feeling and the plot are way worth the time.

So let me shake your hand Grim (& brother) on a job well done!

I tried the game and it seems promising. However, I think the demo broke somewhere along the way:

When I fled the killer and entered the locker I stood in there for a while just waiting for something to happen. When I left I was sent underground walking around between 'Joe' and two corpses laying in their coffins. I then got two options but nothing happened when I clicked them.

I talked to GarageGothich who also tried the demo and he was sent to a completley different room upon entering the locker.

Yeah... There are few bugs in the game. This one's quite funny actually- you were so not meant to see that! lol
