Topic: Games similar to Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3?

Yeah like the topic says. Does anyone know of any good, almost neverending rpg's similar to those games? (Not interested in onlineRPG) I bought Oblivion a little while ago and got really hooked...You might even say I got a small addiction I really like the way it's made. Choose to be good or bad, play however you like it etc. I had Fallout3 on my PS3 too but the ps3version contains too many bugs. I couldn't complete the game unfortunately. It freezed all the time and my PC is too crappy for that game hehe.

Both Neverwinter Nights (The original with its two expansions being supreme to NWN2) and  Divine Divinity are long-lasting and offer a good deal of freedom, and they're cheap to get as compilations.
The original Fallout is *totally* worth the trouble of installing too.
Arx Fatalis is another nice game with good plot and freedom-of-choice (plus a rather novel magic-system of mouse gestures).
Ah, and let's not forget Baldur's Gate 2, which is awesome on too many levels to mention here.
Same goes for Planescape Tornment, though this is a more tight and linear game- with an outstanding plot though, so you may want to try it.

These are all *old* titles though, so don't expect any of them to look better than Oblivion/Fallout3.

I love all of those games. I ordered Two Worlds from newegg.com that it supposed to be similar to Oblivion, but those fools sent me the wrong version.

I have a USA NTSC console, and they sent me a NTSC-J version of the game. Which does not work on my console, and trying to get another copy from them is a pain in the ass.

But I think Two Worlds, might be what you are looking for, despite some bad reviews, but It seems okay to me by playing the demo on the Xbox 360.

I have put in tons of hours into Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 (almost over 160 hours in F3)

But right now, I cannot think of any other games.

You mention Fallout, so I take it that you're open to other RPG genres than just fantasy. So I'll recommend one of my absolute favorite RPGs, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. The main quest plot is great, and while not exactly neverending it has lots of sidequests and tons of replayability (playing as a Malkavian or Nosferatu character is a totally different experience than any of the other clans). It's absolutely necessary to use the unofficial fan made patch as the game was published in a horribly buggy state, but fully patched it's  pure joy.

Maybe you would enjoy Gothic II.
It's very different to Bethesda games, it's less "static". While it's maybe not as good as Behtesda's games in the RPG system, it has very cool atmosphere and I enjoyed it a lot. Oh, and if you'll go for it, get the datadisc too, it gets rid of the stupid easiness of the original game.

As mentioned before If you've never played Baldurs Gate 2/planescape torment, I would strongly recommend it. I'll be trying out Arx Fatalis, never heard of it.

BAK is amazing, though not open ended and "unending".  Then again, I am a huge Raymond E. Feist fan, so ..

It does have free reign to wander around and not progress the game until you choose, and there are lots of side quests though.

You might like Sacred too. I haven't still finished it but I've liked it so far, an open world feel and all to it.

I'll add to Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape:Torment. Also, if you can get your hands on Baldur's Gate 1 as well, check out Baldur's Gate Tutu (a fanmade installer that uses 1's assets in 2's game engine).

Also, Arena (Elder Scrolls 1) is fun, but Daggerfall is much better. IMO as good as MW and OB.

Also, I can suggest some pretty awesome mods for MW and OB if you want, nearly all of which are lore-friendly.

They're linear and they're not open world, but Deus Ex, and Deus Ex Invisible War are very open in how you decide to play the game, and give you choice in your actions and those choices have consequences in the storyline. They're also more steampunk with guns and not ye olde rpg.

For example, in the first game, you could choose to save your brother, or let him fend for himself in a gunfight. If you save him, he's there in the game later on to help you, but if you let him die, then he's a goner!

I downloaded that from an old DOS Game site, but I couldn't figure out how to fight, so the first goblin hacked me to pieces while I just sat there.
Very depressing.

All there in the manual- hold left mouse button and make a swinging motion. That'll move the weapon. IIRC you even do a different thrust depending on how you move the mouse (left/right swing, forward thrust etc).
Arena was awesome when it was released (and much more stable/bug-free than the later Daggerfall), but by todays standards the controls can be a bit fiddly
