A fan-remake of a fan-adventure?  :D
Sounds crazy but I love the idea!

No bugs or crashes? How dull...  ;)

We won't force you to play it, Sslaxx. Maybe.

I'm thoroughly confused... how could you do a remake of a game that came out three days ago?

Whoops... I thought this was the "Completed Games" forum.  :-[

Just please, for god's sake don't use that awful narrator.

Oh, and write some real dialog. I'd definitely play this.
I actually died years ago, this is nothing more than a series of scripts running in a terminal.

Added real dialogs and no awful narrators to features.

You're kidding right? You know they already had problems releasing their own game, so you might just stop as surely you won't get permission to release this (especially as it seems to use artwork from the original games)...

That's bullshit. Firms don't give a shit about anonymously made fan remakes or sequels. They are just pissed off about a few publicity whores that abuse trademarks to hype themselves.

The only reason why Vivdendi (?) cared about The Silver Lining was because they flew WAY over the radar and publicized themselves way too much. Same with the SQ7.org guys, although that is arguable. Infamous Adventures and AGD Interactive released their remakes just fine without much hassle, IIRC.

Yep they released their old remakes, but aren't allowed to release any new remakes if they decided to do one (just check their site).

Check their site for yourself. IA has just announced another King's Quest adventure game.

IA is releasing Space Quest II on schedule, and a King's Quest game, as KQIX-Team said.

And as for AGD-I:

Quote
Once we have finished tying up all the loose ends with our current project, we will not be remaking any more Sierra games. Unfortunately, the time required to create games as detailed and complex as these is no longer something that we have the resources or time to do pro-bono. Making these games requires an immense amount of dedication, willpower, commitment, and a great number of personal sacrifices. And while we have learned many valuable things from remaking these titles over the years, the situation has certainly taken its toll on us.

Seems less like legal worries and more like lack of resources and no longer being worth it.

But anyway, back on topic: KQ9 looks so far to be truer to the classic VGA style, which I absolutely love.

Are you looking into voice acting in the near future? AGDI and IA both managed to get Josh Mandel to voice Graham in their KQ remakes. It might have been for free, I'm not sure.

Well, not in the near future. Check this out:

- Next month we'll release a demo. It features the rooms of the castle.
- Two or three months later we'll release an 1:1 2D-remake of episode 1.
- After this we'll remake all other episodes (2-5).
- After this we'll put all episodes into one game and rerelease it.
- After this we'll start to add additional stuff and release the game as KQ9 Plus.
- After this we can talk about voice packs... or start a remake of KQ8...  ;)

Any questions?  ;D

Lucasfan, is that you?

Actually, SQ7 hardly did any promoting when they were still around. The thing that did them in was the fact they tried to get official permission, but ultimately couldn't reach an agreement with VU about the terms.

It's both, actually. Activision did say we could finish what we started, but couldn't start anything new. But even if we were allowed to start any new remakes, I don't think we would since we're no longer the college-students-with-too-much-free-time we were 10 years ago.

Thanks for the clarification, Erpy.

Can't wait for KQ9 to come out. I've been playing TSL for an hour or two now, and.. well, I'll save my comments for the Adventure Chat/Talk forum thread on the subject. ;)
