The link is the divine Lea Thompson. Man, I miss the '80s. :~(

I'm not sure if I posted this movie before, but...

Ghosts Of Mars?

(Oh, and sorry, LimpingFish, but Haggis beat you to the connection. Now your victory will forever be tinged with regret.)

LimpingFish

Nope, nope, and...nope.

I blame my procrastination.

Howard the Duck is a terrible awesome terrible movie, though I'm not shy of it appearing in full view among my DVD collection. It's right next to Messiah of Evil, from the same creative team, which is one of my favourite independent horror films of the '70s.

No Lea Thompson in that one, though. :(

Howard the Duck may be a bad movie (I've never actually seen it), but I can very much recommend the novelization; written by Ellis Weiner, editor (at one time) of National Lampoon. It is really quite funny, though not as good as his Dune spoof, DOON.

And of course, Steve Gerber's original comic is a classic.

Oh, you must! It's a fascinating blend of misguided creative decisions, implied bestiality, animatronics and stop-motion monsters, and Tim Robbins.

Agreed. Also, though maybe not as iconic, Destroyer Duck, of which I still have the original Gerber/Kirby issues from my comic-collecting days. Somewhere. I hope.

Can't say I'm familiar with the novelization, though it would have been published around the time I was big into movie novelizations.

Altered States? That had some trippy footage including snakes.

LimpingFish

Nope, not Altered States, though it shares a key theme.

This one should give it away:

For me, the only thing being given away here is the food to the panther. :)

I guess I overestimated people's familiarity with trashy, psycho-sexual, '80s horror films. Says more about me, really. :(

Hmm, "Cat People"?

Bingo, bango, bongo! We have a wiener! It is "Cat People", the 1982 remake of the 1942 original. Hooray!

That's the late Robert Addie in the middle, of 'Robin of Sherwood' fame. Very sad that he died so young.

I seem to remember that it was a fairly bloody movie for it's time.

edit: Sorry about that, that's not Robert Addie after all! :-[ Though my hunch doesn't seem to have been that far off - even despite the wrong observation :P...

PS: Gribbler, if you sees this: German translation is done, but I'm wasted, going to send it over tomorrow (translating ballads to predefined rythms is fun and a total nightmare at the same time!!! :P).

Armageddon

Thought it was Valhalla Rising, there's a similar scene and camera angle, but no Mads and far too many people to be Valhalla.
