I was thinking about North-European :); Baltic countries, or Scandinavian maybe. Or Poland, not really sure.

Well it doesn't look like anyone is going to get this one on images alone.  So some additional clues:  It was a best foreign language Oscar winner and it was is famous director's final theatrical movie.

Well, I had to go through the list of winners and image seacrh the films of directors I knew, but I got it:

Ingmar Bergman's Fanny And Alexander.

Assuming I'm correct, here's mine. Two things:

It's pretty hard to get a shot of this film that doesn't immediately give it away!
This film has something in common with Fanny And Alexander, production-wise.
