Ray Bradbury is dead

The last of the golden age sci-fi greats to go. He made the genre stranger and more beautiful.

I agree. Ray Bradbury is one of those writers who showcase the beauty of the English language. Something Wicked This Way Comes will always be one of my favourite books.

Agreed. Always wanted to male a game of, or heavily inspired by Something Wicked.

I tip my hat. The man got me into the stranger type of SciFi, together with Harlan Ellison. Both provided a nice balance to StarTrek, where everything gleamed.

He apparently liked this video and since it's basically a tribute to him, maybe a bit old but still a goodie:

The impossible often has a kind of integrity which the merely improbable lacks.

I enjoyed his short-lived tv series Ray Bradbury Theater and also the cartoon adaptation of 'The Halloween Tree'.  His narration always lent an air of credibility to even a cartoon.

When I was a kid, my uncle gave me a copy of The Martian Chronicles (the miniseries had just hit the small screen). That cheap paperback survived half a dozen moves and three countries. It finally fell apart a couple of years ago.

Bradbury built worlds like no one else.

:~( I remember his books in the 60s. They always made compulsive reading.  Still, his books will go on...
