Journey to Hell
« on: 01 Aug 2012, 15:04 »
I am finally stuck.

How do I
steal the knife from the inn? I assume that I have to leave a substitute item to fool the innkeeper but nothing I own works (bodkin, alidade, tongs)

Thank you

a hint about getting the knife

First step is ...
... to think about a way to get it out without carying it with you, when leaving the tavern. That's half the way.

When you have figured that out ...
... there is a clever timing needed, too.

Would appreciate any help or hint:

Already I can see the red berries, but I have not figured out how to grab them. Guess I need to scare the owl somehow... but I cant climb the tree with the rope.

What todo about the monster stone relief? How can I enter the cave?

Thanks.

about cave-entry and red berries

No need to worry about right now ~ but don't tell the others  ;)

If you really
red berries  ~  at some point in the game you will have earned some money for other reasons. Just some more actions from that you might be able to get them.

cave-entry  ~   hold it in mind during the play as one of your goals (not to miss hints), but as long as you haven't been "successfully" to Egypt, you don't have all the things needed to get in.

@Tabata: Dont know how you helped me... Anyhow, I advanced in the game! ;-D

Thought I already spoke to everybody about everything, were to all places at all times, tried out all my powers, interacted with all my items and to any hotspot in all combinations... but now I finally managed to arrive in Italy. (still I have not earned any money)

Really nice game: entertaining story, logical puzzels and a great atmosphere. Thanks for such a masterpiece!

@Tabata: Dont know how you helped me...
I just tried to tell you, that it will last a long time until you need to go into those directions and because I know that it is not very helpfull to read only: "Don't care about it now" I also wanted to give you a clue, when it will be possible to go on - so just to be remembered, when you'll realize, that you reached that point, but still can't make it. If so, that would be the time to ask again.

Glad you are making progress on your (long!) journey and Romeo will be happy to read you are enjoying and like the puzzeles.

a general hint about dialogs

Since it doesn't sound like you feel stuck in Venice, I don't leave a hint about that right now, but I am not english, so if I misunderstood your post about this, just call

No, I dont feel stuck in Venice. So I wont need any further hint on this - at least for the moment. (roll)

Right now I am trying to figure out...
what to do with the "Coats of Arms", that I found inside the crypt.

I'm still desperately trying to make the ink. I tried to combine the burnt cork with everything in inventory and everything I see to no avail. Maybe I'm missing an item? What room is the item I combine the cork with to be found?

You tried it on the piece of paper with the scribbling in your inventory?

Squeeze the berries in your inventory. The rest should be obvious
mortar and pestle

I could swear the very same for the ink and for at least another item.

There are items where he states about "I dont need it at the moment" and thats ok, because you will keep this in mind and try them out later on in the game. But if I remember right, so far I had two items where he first said "No way!" and afterwards they worked out fine. I mean for exploring a game world, it makes a huge difference in getting a "I dont know WHY (to do something - at the moment)" or "No way!". As for the last statement you would not expect any gamer to repeat and try it out a second time.

Anyway, its still such a great game that I enjoy a lot... thanks to Romeo!  ;-D

BTW:
The keyword "ink" helped me to work out the letter and its stamp. Now I am going to do some exorcism. hehe"

Right now...

I am searching for a way to distract the snake charmer or the snake in order to get his flute or to be able to catch the snake for then defeating a poisoned scorpion with it. Any suggestions?

You are doing pretty well!  (nod)

about snake charmer/snake

just a little hint
... an inhabitant might be able to give you a hint.

a little bit more
... it's something to distract the snake you will  need and you won't find it in Egypt.

Guess I already got the hint
that I need to have a snake in order to defeat the scorpion (natural enemy)

and had the very same idea to go abroad again, but
back at home he still wont let me pick up the sticks nor the rag.

That's right so far, but for the snake ...

... you also need something special to distract it.

Also, I already tried to:
use the rope, get an instrument from the archlord, use my powers...now I will check back on the owl!
