CaptainD

We're talking MUCH earlier than either of those.

CaptainD

This clearly isn't ringing any bells with people so I've added another 2 lines to the clue.

Two brothers there were
But they didn't get on
They both had pots
But not of money
They would visit the other's grave
But only to laugh, not to grieve.
They sure liked their herbs
But what they brewed could be lethal

Mandle

Some Cheech and Chong game?

CaptainD

Oops sorry forgot to respond - no.

It's a one-word title.

It was releeased in the late 80s.

The game featured 2 brothers, and was in fact developed by two brothers.

Stupot

The only game dev brothers I can think of from that era are the Oliver Twins. But your riddle doesn't sound like it describes a Dizzy game.

CaptainD

Nope it's not the Oliver Twins.  AFAIK they're not twins!  However the brothers in the game ARE twins.

The Gardener can hurt you.

You have a cauldron.

It was released on the Bulldog label by Mastertronic.

Stupot

The Oliver Twins aren't twins???? Nooooooooooo!!! They lied 🤥

CaptainD

Oh no wait, sorry what I meant was that the brothers behind the development of thus game aren't twins AFAIK!

I (think?) the Oliver Twins were actually twins. :-D

Feud, by the Pickford bros. Speccy, 1987.

Here's another:

A sequel this be
To a game by the sea
With folks misbegotten
In a town that is rotten

Still waiting for Purity of the Surf II

Mandle

That's easy!

Chronicle Of Innsmouth: Mountains Of Madness!

Kweepa

Nope! Apparently it works for several games...
The last line should have "rotten" in quotes.
Still waiting for Purity of the Surf II

Mandle

Hehehe I was joking.

Is it Monkey Island 2?

Kweepa

Nope.

For a clue, in a pinch,
Cast your eyes down an inch.

Quite right!
Take it away!

Oh, hahaha! That's what "eyes down an inch" meant! I thought it meant the characters in the game were tiny or something like that...

Kumpel

I am throwing in my cup of game history tea.

He made up his mind
but in perfection he was blind
to see that no one would find
his game of life to be kind.

Kumpel

Well, that escalated quickly! :=
