I am not an expert in sound formats, therefore I ask for help about this one.

I have this interesting WAV file, the interesting part is that it plays in any media player I have, it is played by built-in player in AGS editor, but cannot be played by AGS engine. Also, Audacity software fails to open it.

Can someone check this file out and tell what problem may that be? Is there a program that could convert it to a more common format?

Super:

Super can convert everything to everything, movies to just audio, movies to gif, and wav to everything else. As it is a all in one solution it is not as specialised as some convertXtoY tool with custom matrixes (but avisynth scripts) and the gifs it renders also could be better and more optimised, but it still does the job it is supposed to do pretty well. But finding the download link is an adventure on itself, afaik it depends on referers so I can't post a direct download link...
Also VLC can convert audioformats.

It is an ACM wavfile compressed using Lame MP3. I guess AGS only supports PCM wav files but most players support ACM as well. I guess you can convert it to MP3.
Life is like an adventure without the pixel hunts.
