Pixely background or not?

Experimenting a bit. Here is a pixelated version of a background:



And another of the locations:

While i don't like pixelated looks, i am not sure if a crisp look will be atmospheric or not.

Any thoughts on this, and lighting of the images? (final version will have 800 x 490 screens).

While the pixelated ones looks better in my opinion, there's too much of a stark contrast between the background and the character. So I think you should stick with the nice high-res crisp ones instaed.
