Hi everyone

I'm an actor & director and I've been making games on and off in AGS for almost 20 years, though I only ever finished a small handful of them.
I'm making a one person version of Hamlet in the style of a computer game: a mix of comedy, live music, physical theatre and video projection and I'm raising funds through Kickstarter to help me tour it around the country.

The kickstarter video is here:

And the campaign here:

I made the second RON game and won the third ever MAGS competition. I also did some voices for Night of the Hermit and for The Journey Down.

I've scoured my memory and all the games I've loved as well as others I missed along the way for wicked quotes, memorable characters and awesome music and woven it all together into a ridiculous story about Hamlet. Ridiculousness aside, I think the medium of videogames, being all about giving the player the illusion of meaningful choice, is the perfect setting for Hamlet, the story of a boy thrust into tragic circumstances, struggling to get to grips with any choice he tries to make, and driving himself mad as a consequence.

I've done a few small performances along the development of it and people laugh a lot and love spotting all the references to different games. There's especially a lot from Worms, indie games and the whole history of the adventure games. Some of the animation for the video projection is even made in AGS.

If you're able to support and share the page around I'd be hugely grateful. Rewards include being in the show as an animated zombie and being the lead character in a short 80s style adventure game.

All the best

What an amazingly creative idea!

Have you ever thought of approaching the "Cinemassacre" channel on youtube (home of James Rolfe: "The Angry Video Game Nerd") for possible support? This sounds exactly like something they would love and be interested in. By support I mean even just a shoutout, or a short video spot on their channel. If you hit it incredibly lucky, perhaps even a bit of sponsorship, or a video series...

Just an idea, but when I read your post the first thing that I thought was "Wow, Cinemassacre would LOVE this idea!"

Best of luck anyways!

Thanks. I don't know Cinemassacre but looked them up and they look ace. I'll definitely contact them. Thanks for the heads up.

Sweet! Damn, your room even looks like James Rolfe's with all the retro games on display...He also has a recreation of an '80s video shop in his basement with shelves, posters, and VHS tapes all bought from a shop that was closing down.

If any deal does work out for you with them and you get to meet James at any point then, if it's not too much to ask, please get me an autographed copy of "The Angry Video Game Nerd Movie"... (laugh)

Sure. For a pledge. (laugh)
I've released a couple more videos of music from the show, as I've been recording a whole load recently:
