As Tabata suggested I am now changing the layout for better readability and playability. Updated questions are bold.

CASE #1:
"A man gets in A-Town into a train waggon and when the train is on its* last station, he is found dead by the train guard. What happened to him?"

*changed the word his to its.[/b]

YES
Was he alive when he got on? (Just making sure this isn't one of those riddles.)
Was there breathable air inside the wagon?
Was he alive when he entered the train car?
Did he have a heart attack?
Was he found dead in the train?

NO
Was there something dangerous in the train wagon?
Was he murdered/shot?
Was the train guard also dead?
Did he get off before the last station?
Is the whole ridde a mean or terrible pun?
Did he laugh himself to death because of a mean or terrible pun?
was it an accident?
was it a funny accident?
Is this wording deliberate and significant? "when the train is on his last station" (JUST BAD ENGLISH :P SEE NOTE BELOW THE CASE)
Is it a suicide?
Did he have any health issue?
Was he diabetic? Hypoglycemia?
Was he the train driver?

Irrelevant
Were there other people in the train with him?
Did he have a valid ticket?
Was the dead man a criminal?

Tabata

Is the train intact technically?
Will it help us solving the story by knowing what "A-town" is?
Did he know he wouldn't reach home alive?

Snarky

If he wasn't murdered and it wasn't an accident, did he die of natural causes?

Was the "last station" when he was found the same trip that he got on?

Did the trip last more than, let's say, a day?

selmiak

@Snarky: there is already a yes on heart attack so we have to find out what caused this?!

Was he frightened to death and this cause the heart attack?
Did another person cause the heart attack?
Did an animal cause the heart attack?
Did the heart attack kille him after all?

Was he like 100 years old?
Is the heart attack a squirrel?

Tabata

Hmm - now what can cause a heart attack for a healthy human ...

Was he sleeping when the train drove into a tunnel, woke up and thought that he got blind because the lights didn't work?

Did he get a phonecall/message that gave him the heart attack?

Has he gone along the dining waggon and saw what they prepared for lunch?

When the train went into a tunnel did he touch something that gave him the heart attack?

Snarky

Well, in this story he's usually a blind man who's just had an operation to make him see, and when the train goes in the tunnel he either dies of fright or commits suicide. So is that the solution, or is there even more to it?

Snarkys reply, combined with Tabatas half solution, that's exactly it!

@Snarky: But it sounds like you knew the story. So maybe for future investigations those who know the circumstances of the events could give the unkown ones a chance to find it out themselves.

Gurok

Umm... so what's the process now? Are you going to open a new case or should Tabata/Snarky open one?

Open for use from now on (You can use my design if you want). Whoever has a case for us. Feel free to jump in, But Tabata/Snarky should have the right of first response, I guess.

If no one is doing it, I'll do another one in 2 days.

Shouldn't I at least get a "Head Coroner Mandle" title or something for discovering the cause of death? (laugh)

Also, if I may make a suggestion: I think it's probably best if we try to steer away from these famous lateral thinking riddles because, being adventure game fans, I would say that most people here have at some point heard pretty much all of them.

I think this game would be just as fun without the fancy trick questions all the time and people could just make up their own crime situations to be solved. If they can include an original trick that's great, but even just an everyday mafia hit or witness killing or whatever will still be entertaining I feel.

Tabata

I'd need some days to come up with an own story,
so please take this fairly well known story, so to speak, as an easy intermediate meal for to get the thread running.

In case there are no questions until I am back from work or even better - if Snarky already has a selfmade story in mind â€" just start it.
(I'll modify this post afterwards not to confuse the participants if you have a real "Case 2" started )

They found three dead bodies in the room, also a set of cards and a revolver.
What happened?

Mandle

I actually haven't heard this one before so I'm going to participate:

Were they playing some form of Russian Roulette with the cards and the gun?

Snarky

No, I don't have anything in mind. Maybe I'll try to come up with something.

Were the people shot?
Were the cards playing cards?

Stupot

Had the revolver been fired by one of the people found dead?

dayowlron

Was there a 4th person playing cards and lost all his money so he shot the other 3 and fled with the money?
did the dead bodies have money on them, in other words was there signs of a robbery gone bad?
