Do you believe in love and future full of troubled robots? Well, then this game is for you!

You play as a LO43R, a robot that will do anything to have love back in his life. Naturally, she is trapped in a sleazy massage parlour. It's your job to fight the bad robots, use the help of not so bad ones and get her out of there.

Tycho Magnetic Anomaly did the art. I did the scripting and sound design. We expanded and changed my original story so much that it truly became our story. It's been a wonderful experience and I hope it will lead to great enjoyment for players!

And here is the game page on AGS: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2173/

Nice work, guys. I liked the whole world with the robots you've created. The sound and especially the graphics were sort of enthralling, it felt as if I was watching a movie because of the atmosphere.
Spoiler
especially considering the credits in the end :=

Also, the characters felt very human, the dialogues are good. The only negative thing I noticed was a few grammatical errors here and there, but it's not a big deal.

xBRANEx

Thank you very much!

I always had the idea to let someone who is perfect in English test it and let us know what we got wrong because English isn't my first language and the parts that Tycho wrote were wrote in a hurry so they had even more errors than my parts.

Anyway, we will probably fix that when our break finishes.

So to anyone who plays our game, it would be lovely if you could put the mistakes you find in spoiler tags here!

I've just loaded it up. Looking great so far.
I just wanted to mention, the sprites for the save and load icons seem the wrong way round for me. Usually a 'save' icon has the arrow going into the disc and the 'load' icon has the arrow point away.

Anyway, back to the game :-)

Finished the game. Very nice stuff, really well put-together. And the puzzles are fun with a couple of head-scratchy moments. The writing is pretty funny, too although...
Spoiler
I thought the end credit sequence was a ittle bit overboard.

You guys make a great team.

Having a great time with this so far, but I am kinda stuck at the door-color puzzle. I got the card thingy, but can't figure it out. :O

Tycho Magnetic Anomaly

Thanks for the feedback on this folks.
It was a really fun project to work on, I learned so much and working with xBRANEX was wonderful.

Ibispi  I shall take full responsibility for any grammar/spelling :D  Thank you for playing till the end!

Silverspook, Thanks for giving our game a whirl.. I am much looking forward to playing your entry (I plan to leave it till last since I am most curious about it)
Regarding the puzzle your stuck on I shall leave a hint in a spoiler tag for you, best of luck with the rest of your adventure.

In general I am curious to know how long it took people to complete this from start to finish.
Also would like to know what people saw on the laptop screen in the janitors room ;)

I didn't time it but I've estimated it took me about 1h15m to complete.
As for the laptop, I can barely remember but was it Mario or something? [/totalguess]

Tycho Magnetic Anomaly

Stupot+ . very glad you completed the game, thanks for the wonderful feedback.
Spoiler
hehe yea the end credits I assumed most people would have quit before the rolling part.. its inspired in part by monty python holy grail opening credits :)

Nice game, I really enjoyed it. Good work for a MAGS game, good puzzles and decent graphics. Took me around 40 min to complete.

Spoiler
I really liked the logic puzzle at the janitor's door. Took me a few minutes to figure it out and was just about right. Opening the safe with the time restriction was a bit annoying, but I got it with the third or fourth attempt.

WOW! I just finished playing... It took me about and hour and a half I think, but a lot of that time was just exploring all the options the game gave and enjoying the world instead of rushing through every solution to just get to the ending...

I LOVED the end credits! And I actually think
Spoiler
you should leave all the grammar errors in the game as they are explained there and it's a funny joke... Also loved all the references hidden in the credits, although I think I only got about half of them... But, you cheeky bastards: "Dolly: An Android Dreaming Of Electric Sheep"...I wonder how many players get the double-reference there? Insanely clever!

I had an awesome time and felt at times like I was playing a short Wadget Eye game. All it needs is some good voicing and slightly (and I mean slightly) more polishing on some parts and it would be at that level! I wonder if Dave Gilbert would consider including a short game with one of their releases like Pixar adds a short film to their theatrical releases/DVDs...

I loved the bots and they reminded me of my childhood obsession with the bot from Disney's "The Black Hole" (V.I.C.T.O.R?)... I believe he was mentioned in the credits?

A lot of
Spoiler

2001 references, but for me that was a good thing, especially "Something wonderful"...

I haven't played all the games from this MAGS yet, but they are gonna have to be really something special to beat yours!

Thanks for the great time! You guys rock!

Thank you very much Mandle! That's one of the best compliments a game could get!

We even considered doing some voice-acting and then getting it through vocoders and stuff so they sound robotic but we realized we didn't have time for all that. I considered making gibberish digital sounds as a weird language that the robots will speak but that was also a quite time consuming task.

A lot of people had trouble understanding the lyrics of the outro song. It's:

Awesome game!  I finished it last night and it was a real blast.  I'm all about the robots and cyberpunk, so this game was right up my alley.

The puzzles were all pretty much spot-on, even if I got stumped by the janitor door bit. Probably if I was playing in the morning rather than around midnight it would've come to me sooner. :)

Graphics are pro and it's obvious Tycho came from the industry. The writing is snappy and funny, and I really liked the 'leet-speak' character names (G1R7, etc.) and the witty wordplay that you can only really get away with in these sort of cyber-adventure games.

Took me a little over an hour to finish, I think.

Overall, fantastic job!

Tycho Magnetic Anomaly

Wow thanks so much for the really encouraging comments, also thank you for commenting on the download page too, but above all thank you for trying the game, it means so much to us.

I have added this project to my portfolio site. It shows most of the graphics gone into the game, but the whole page contains visual spoilers so if you have not played it yet and still wish to perhaps avoid looking at this page:

Oh this game is great. I had lots of fun solving the puzzles and that wire hotspot was really mean!
So I just had to do a longplay of this beautiful game! ;-D

Tycho Magnetic Anomaly

Oh my gosh selmiak, we are so grateful for you doing that hehe .. and really overwhelmed with the feedback in general we are getting on this, totally unexpected, really, it all very encouraging too.

Pilchard

Terrific work xBRANEx and Tycho. A well-designed, involving short game with some tricky and varied puzzles, and some of the bawdiest robots yet seen in any medium. Lots of fun sci-fi references to enjoy here too!

It's great to see Tycho's art in a game after admiring it on here for a while, like in his CRT tutorial.

I know the music was all Kevin MacLeod stuff rather than new compositions, but it was all extremely well selected and almost cohered like a bespoke soundtrack, with all those nice electric pianos running through it. That seemed to add a lot to the experience.

I had some slight audio glitches when entering/exiting puzzle close-ups and during video cutscenes, but it may just be a quirk of my laptop.

Tabata

Congatulations!
... a well deserved win (and my choice also)

I had a real lot of fun playing this little gem. (nod)
