Hey has someone seen this war of mine:

I would like to make a room like that containing multiple rooms, but the perspective gets a bit messy, has someone attempted affine transformation in AGS, or maybe using trapezoid for each wall, floor and ceiling and faking with distortion? Thoughts on this idea?

Khris

It's definitely possible: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1338/ (play this to see what I mean)

How good it's going to look depends on the amount of layers. AGS can't really do realtime pixel transformations, at least not without dropping to 10 FPS.

There has been a Mags game that did this, where the player explores a ship in search for his family. It had no dialogs but used pictures and symbols. Anyone remember the name? I think the theme has been "languages" or something like that.
Maybe the creators could help you

I think the thread starter is talking about shifting perspective dynamically as the player moves up and down in the structure...

I think the name of the game you mean was "Cold Hand Reef" by WHAM, but in that game the ship is drawn in 2D only, with no shifts in perspective...

AWESOME game though!

This game also is implemented as one huge room but shows a single room at a time:

CaesarCub

This is a work in progress of an idea I had for a game set in a tower:

The game would pan from room to room, avoiding the player to see more than one room at a time. As you can see, the different perspectives of each floor do not line up, but since the player only sees one at a time (except when the camera pans) the illusion is maintained.

Snarky

Basically for this effect you'd need to do 3D. And there are various 3D modules/plugins for AGS:

Hey Guys!

Thanks for all the input! Me and the guys I am working with gave up on this idea and we are doing something different that is more similar to the tower described by CaesarCub ! :D

I really had fun playing the Infinity game linked by Khris!
