AdventureX will be returning to London on the 10th & 11th of November 2018. Yay! We have launched a Kickstarter Campaign to help AdventureX keep growing. Please share the campaign & support us if you can.

Applications for exhibitors / speakers / volunteers are now open:
Applications close July 31st. We don't charge exhibitors to show off their games at AdventureX.

There biggest changes for 2018 are:

  • We are running in partnership with the British Library, as part of International Games Week. This means we have a bigger venue, in a central London location.
  • AdnventureX 2018 will be a ticketed event for the first time. But you can get significantly discounted tickets if you back the Kickstarter fast! For more info on this decision, please check out the 2018 announcement.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at AdventureX 2018!

Backed! Hoping to attend again this year too, but not sure I'll make it yet :undecided:

Grundislav

Backed, applied as a speaker, and attending! :D

Andail

Clifftop Games and Faravid Interactive are now proud sponsors of Adventure X, and we will also attend to showcase our game Whispers of a Machine.

And me and Joel will hang around and socialize and stuff!

Won't be able to make it this year :( but hopefully I can catch the live streams!

CaptainD

It would appear that you have already passed your funding target!! :cheesy:  Any stretch goals?

cat

Awesome news!
Sadly, I won't be able to make it this year. Is there going to be a live stream?

Yup, happy to sponsor and attend, I'm sure it will be a blast as always! :)

Ali

The stretch goals are coming soon. Frankly, we didn't expect to hit the target this quickly and I didn't have the graphic ready. I'm pretty sure there will be a livestream, because we've probably already hit the stretch goal for it!

m0ds

Very well done reaching your goal and way beyond! I'm wondering, have you considered bringing back the charity fund-raising element? And, if there are capacity issues (just reflecting on some comments I've seen about the place and, well, your own media statements about first come first served), what is stopping you from opening up the larger lecture hall? Just curious :)

Stupot

Since no one at the event thinks AGS is relevant to adventure games any more... :P

AdventureX is already halfway through.

Wow, I completely missed it :(

Too bad, there was no reminder here. Were the talks recorded?

Judging by how they handled the previous years, yes.

Might take a while for them to upload.

Or go here:

No idea how long twitch keeps recordings.

I have created a shared album gallery on Google Photo https://photos.app.goo.gl/qeAtXwTp87PGapVw1 :D Anybody can jump in and upload stuff if they feel like!

Sorry you missed the livestream! Technical problems (that weren't our fault) meant that Dave Gilbert's opening talk wasn't streamed. But it was recorded by Adventure-Treff and should appear on their YouTube channel. All the other talks were recorded, with (hopefully) improved audio equipment. They're available on twitch for a while, and we'll clean up the picture and sound and put them on the AdventureX YouTube channel over the next weeks.

For anyone who missed the drama on the Saturday morning: even though we had tested it minutes earlier, the lectern in the auditorium stopped working just before the first talk. So we had to move the entire conference from the 120 seater into the larger auditorium next door, running 30 minutes behind schedule. This is something we didn't want to do, because we'd rather have a 120 seater absolutely packed out (with lots of people left outside playing games) than a 250+ seater looking half-full (with fewer people left to play games). None of this was ideal, but we had no alternative. I hope it didn't impact too negatively upon the exhibitors' experience. The room change is also why the videos from Saturday have piles of tables and whiteboards everywhere -  we weren't expecting anyone to see them!

In spite of this, I felt that the talks were some of the most inspiring and thought provoking we've had. The feedback I've heard has been very positive.

They were inspiring indeed, Ali, and I'm quite frankly still feeling a kind of "positive unease" after Brian Moriarty's speech. I find myself going back in my mind to specific chunks of his talk a lot.
I already did it live, but I want to thank you and everyone else involved in the event's organization. Thank you. I had a blast.

I just wanted to let you know we at Adventure-Treff are nearly done with the video coverage from 2017's AdventureX.

I think we have covered all the talks (correct me if I'm wrong) and also recorded some interviews with developers. We have one or two more videos in our production queue, then we should be done.

Yup - on the official website - http://adventurexpo.org/

2018's announced for 10th & 11th November 2018 @ The British Library.

If you're on Twitter, you can follow @AdvXConf

Hi! The Kickstarter is coming very soon, so I was waiting for that to post here. But, basically, its happening.

Ali

Bump! The Kickstarter for AdventureX 2018 will launch at midday tomorrow. Keep an eye on our twitter feed and get in fast for early bird discounts on a weekend pass.

The announcement on the blog goes into detail about our new venue, and why we've decided to make the event ticketed this year.

Ali

Double bump:

Quadruple bump. (Do let me know if you want me to stop bumping, but in the past people have complained that AdventureX info was late to arrive on the AGS forums.)

If you missed the Kickstarter, but still want a ticket, tomorrow is the big day. The remaining tickets go on sale from the British Library on Monday: https://www.bl.uk/events/adventurex-weekend-ticket

If the Kickstarter is anything to go by, there's a decent chance the tickets will sell-out. The full schedule will be announced soon, but Ragnar Tornquist (of The Longest Journey) and Dave Gilbert (of this parish) will both be sharing their wisdom. That seems like a good enough endorsement to me.

selmiak

postbetweenthebumps...

just bump it with news ali!

cat

Yes, please, keep the info coming!

I most likely won't be able to attend this year as well, but I'd love to watch a few of the talks online.

Ali

Amazingly, we've already sold out apart from a few Sunday tickets. Sorry you can't make it cat, hopefully we'll see you on the livestream!

cat

And just as I thought that I might still be able to make it, it sells out. Bad luck, I guess.
Still, keep us updated here and we might follow you on the live-stream.

Stupot

Bumping this now as it got neglected last year.
It would be nice if some AGSers at the event would post here occasionally. Pics, updates, fun news. Anything to make the rest of us feel included. Thanks.

Live stream is here:
http://adventurexpo.org/livestream/

(The page above says that the livestream will be live on 11th and 12th. I'm guessing that's a hangover from last year. It would say 10th and 11th.)

Well, last year it said "2016" for the whole weekend. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!?

Arrived at this very cold land! Hope to see you all

Edit: met a lot of people today, demoing Future Flashback tomorrow too. If you are here please come play! Also I may not know your face and name, so if possible, please tell me who are you :D

Ali

Hello! This might be the last thing on everyone's mind, but we've decided to cancel AdventureX 2020 because of the Covid-19 crisis. There's more info here:

http://adventurexpo.org/adventurex-2020-cancelled/

As AGSers, you might be particularly interested in the fact that we're going to run an AdventureX Game Jam in November instead.

Yeah, hopefully lockdown will be a distant memory... but it seems likely that social distancing will still be advisable. And, with the venue being a public building, the decision would probably be out of our hands.

Stupot

I like the idea of an AdvX Game Jam.

Perhaps some kind of pared down online conference with Zoom-based presentations and demonstrations would be cool. And it could be used as a bit of fund raising to put towards a bumper AdvX the following year.
