Doc Apocalypse

Help! I've just started playing the latest version of the game but can't get out of the bunker. I've got the key but when I try to use it I need some auxillary power for the door to open (or something like that!). I've examined & tried to use everything in the 'room' - what am I missing please?

EDIT After spending a lot of time stuck I found what I needed right after posting here! :) But, I'm finding it difficult to try

- is there any other way of doing is other than bashing on the mouse button?

It took a while! This game is so slow going after a few hours I've achieved so little but I've truly have come to a standstill now

but I can't get any further than that!

Ugh I wish I could help but it's years since I played the game and I haven't got round to the voiced version yet.  If I start playing soon and get to this point I'll see if you still need help (but you will have probably completed it by then!).

Hey Ciara, I made (out of my head) a quick first part of a rough 'walkthrough', so be aware: no hints, only direct spoilers!:

WT Part 1:

So, ones your outside the bunker:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
In front of Higgins' house:
give keys of bunker to the man (Eli, aka The Oracle)
talk to Eli
upstairs (close to the house of Lewis) you'll find a piece of paper, take it.
open the inventory window and look at the paper, it shows a radio-station frequency
use the piece of paper on the transistor-radio, lewis now sets the correct frequency
use transistor-radio on Lewis, he finds out that he needs a better spot to get a proper signal

Churge:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
go left tot he church
in front of the corrugated sheet you'll see a pile of sand
search the pile of sand and find the bible
walk back tot he right

Steakhouse:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
walk from lewis house to the right, you'll arrive at a former steakhouse which is now a place of barter
Enter the steakhouse
talk to the boss, who's sitting in a chair
ask the boss: "I'd like to trade something"
give the boss the bible
he now tells you he can help you with information about anything
leave for now
walk to the right

Police-station:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
open the police-station's door
Sheriff Grimes appears and invites you to come inside the Police-station
talk to Grimes and inform him about his family issues: "You were telling me you had family problems"
he tells you about his wife who have had a car accident and that his son is trying to kill him (Grimes)
offer you help for the keys of the truck: "I want to help you in exchange for the keys to that truck"
leave the police-station

Location of the accident:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
walk to the right to the bus and a car
use the transistor-radio on lewis
lewis walks to an area in front of the police station where he hears a broadcast of the Resistance Radio, a rebel-group with Jack 'Long-Tongue' as spokesman.

Grimes' house:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
walk to the right, to the bridge and the Grimes house
enter the house
lewis sent you away right-away

Jack 'Long-Tongue':
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
walk to the left, to the dealer
ask the Boss if he knows Jack 'Long-Tongue'
he says yes
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
walk back to lewis' house
talk to lewis: "I need some particular information"
ask if lewis knows Jack 'Long-Tongue'
lewis tells you that Jack's radio-station is located in New York
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
walk back to the boss (dealer) who's reding a book
ask the boss: "Do you know exactly where to find Resistance Radio in New York"
he answers to go looking for an antenna in Queens

Grimes:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
go back to the Grimes house
enter the house
tell butch: "Your father wants to put things right"
Butch doesn't want to know anything about it
let Lewis tell butch that his mother doesn't need butch anymore and that Butch can be useful by joining the rebel-group in New York: "If you really want to make yourself useful, I can give you some advice"
tell butch: "Your mother would be proud of you"
tell butch: "You need to go to Queens and look for an antenna"
butch is now leaving and heading for queens
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
leave the house and go back to the police-station
Tell Grimes that you solved the family issue with his son
Grimes leaves to go bury his wife
in the back of the police-station you'll find a map above the desk
on this desk you'll find the keys for the truck, take them.

Thank you arj0n! I just needed the prompt to use the transistor on Doc - I never think to try using stuff on the protagonist!

I'm stuck again in Area 51. Tachy has

been through the vent & got the disc from the strange object & given it to Beth who's got a 'key' from it. After that I've come to a standstill not being able to progress beyond the corridor, lab & place where the time machine is. I've tried inputting a variety of passwords using the keyboard in the lab but I haven't got a clue!

OK, here's WT Part 3:



Alien machine:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
Use small bag on beth
Beth now has the disc, notebook en a handkerchief
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
Use notebook on beth, she starts reading
One note tells you only a small person can use the teleporter
Another note shows a drawing on how to turn on the computer
The key is now added to your inventory.
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
Look at the drawing, it has 2 columns of 3 blocks
Notice the location of the 3 WHITE blocks: upper-right, middle-left, lower-right
Now click on the screen at these 3 locations
An alien appears in the strange structure, left of the computer
Tachy is interested in this event

Teleport:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
Switch to (take control over) Tachy
Click with the use-cursor on the strange structure
Tachy enters the strange structure and disappears
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
He's teleported to an alien spaceship
He'll look around and go back to the teleport disc in order to teleport back
He reports his little adventure to Beth
On the ship he noticed the red laser beams, similar to the ones Beth has disabled
While Tachy was away, a new set of buttons has appeared on the pink screen
Tachy suggests he will go back to the spaceship, while Beth stays here and will try to disable the laserbeams on the ship using the computer in this room.
Therefor she will have to figure out the new sets of buttons on the screen.

Switch to Beth
Give the cd-disc to Tachy
Switch to Tachy
Use the teleport machine again
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
Switch to Beth
Look at the new set of buttons on the screen
At the right-side of the screen the new set of buttons are shown in 2 columns having 3 buttons per column.
click the follow sequence: upper right, upper left, lower left
(At this moment Beth still has no clue if this has disabled the laserbeams)

Switch to Tachy
You now see the laserbeams have been disabled
Walk to the next room
You'll see 2 teleport discs on the floor
Go stand on the first disc in front of you

Switch to Beth
Click the big button in the center of the screen, the one with the alien symbols
Beth will tell you this is the last thing she will do

Switch to Tachy
He notices that the cd-disc in his inventory has started to vibrate
Then suddenly an alien appears
It's a hologram, asking for instructions
Tachy chooses the option to destroy a huge part of the world

Hey Ciara.
Sorry, I left out a part because I thought you had figure that part out already. Maybe you overlooked something :)

I don't seem to be able to look at the drawing to see those columns?
The drawing is the key which is added to your inventory after using the notebook (found in the small bag) on Beth.
You should be able to look at this inventory item.

Where is the strange structure? - is there an area I've missed? I'm completely lost????
The strange structure is that strange machine, left of the screen in the room which entrance was blocked with laserbeams.
And no, you're not completely lost, just stuck, a little bit ;)

So below is the part that probably contains something you might have missed.
This point starts when you arrive in Area 51.

WT Part 2:

Laserdoor:
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
Switch to Beth
Walk to the room with the crates
Tachy will follow
You'll end up at the double-door with an exit sign above it
Take the small bag
In the right-side corridor you'll see a toilet
Stand close and listen. Someone seems to be in need of toilet paper.
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
Follow your way through the coridor to the left
You end up at a laserbeam-protected door
Against the back wall you notice a desk and a computer.
The guard who usually sits there must be the person on the toilet in need of toilet paper

Look at the monitor
Beth notice a password is required
Use the keyboard below the monitor
A pop-up screen is shown asking for a password which you don't have
Click exit to leave the password screen
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
Walk back to the toilet
Walk back and forth in front of the toilet and listen to the person sitting on the toilet
After a little while the person thinks you're his colleague
Now he reveals the password

Walk back to the computer
use the keyboard again
Enter password: Roswell47
Click the Confirm button
Add spoiler tag for Hidden:
The laserbeams are now disabled
Walk to the left
You're now entering the room with the alien machine... (walkthrough continues here)

the guy in the toilet was the clue but obviously didn't walk past him enough times! It was also helpful to get a nudge in the next part of the walkthrough on what Tachy had to do to meet the alien

Ugh I can't seem to find whatever it is that triggers Lewis being willing to enter the house with Butch and his mother.  I've spoken to Grimes, looked at the photo and the keys, talked to the guy by the bunker about both characters.  As I understand it you need to offer to help in return for the truck keys.  Inventory-wise I have the can and detergent bottle, and I've found out about the rebels and their leader.  Any ideas what I might have missed?

I'm most definitely no expert CaptainD! but did you try

I'm a bit further along & stuck again - this time at the North Pole!

I've spoken to Bishop, used the elevator & created a beam of light by using a crystal skull on the floor calendar. Back in the pub I'm suspecting I need to get behind the counter possibly to get the generator door key? I've managed to get Reggie to clear up a knocked-over vase but Doc won't search with the Colonel there

Yep done that, and talked to everyone I can about Jack.  I got the location of the group.  There must just be some niggly thing I haven't done yet!

Thanks Arj0n and Ciara for the suggestions.  I just don't know what I have missed, just some Look or Use interaction somewhere along the line I guess.

It could be just in the dialogue CaptainD. If you talk to Eli about as much as poss, & then Gaius he (Gaius) should eventually mention

I've now managed to get way into Chapter 5? (& all by myself :-D) I've visited all the locations but

can't find the fire symbol in Egypt, just an Eyptian tablet & not sure what else I need to do in Egypt as I haven't come across the accumulator? NB I also picked up a battery that put out the lamps.

but nothing is happening - maybe they have to be in a particular order?

That is an answer to your puzzle, btw. I'm not just randomly asking if you have supernatural experiences in an AGS hints thread...!

I assume this is related to hearing "Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewis" at the church?  We've kept wondering about this, but Lewis won't go inside.  Will hunt around, we must have missed something... thanks!

Besides finishing up 2 project of myself, I also do need to find some spare time to play the new version of DocApoc ;-D
