URBAN

Source: Google images

Draw Make a BG with a urban setting! Past, present or future; being it a street, alley, square... you decide!

Deadline: 15th of April 2018

Voting:

Concept: your background should tell us something about the place you have depicted.
Playability: does it have clearly defined walkable areas, things to interact with, etc?
Artistic Execution: does the image convey the wanted atmosphere? What's the feeling of the place? Is it scary/eerie enough? Would you pass the night alone in it? (if the answer is "yes", it needs to be scarier) Sorry, I had just copy/pasted this from you, as you could probably guess... :-[ (roll)

Now start working.

I'm in... here's my entry:

I decided to draw a park, with the main city just across the street.

What can I say?  Simplicity counts!

Cassiebsg

Wow, nice touch DBoyWheeler, simple but effective. (nod)

Great theme, Cassie!
But you should probably change the description after "Artistic Execution". ;)

I have a few ideas for a background and made some sketches.

Unfortunately, I have been a bit busy lately and didn't have much time to draw. I'll have to wait next week to start working on it properly.

Cool! We have a competition now. (nod)
I like the claustrophobic feel of it.

Here's my entry:

I wanted to add a few more details, but I started working on it a bit late.

Cassiebsg

Oh, this looks great! very atmospheric. (nod)
I'm not sure if I want to get in that alley though. 8-0

Uhm... maybe I should start working on trophies. (roll)

Just a quick reminder, for the eventually late comers. Remember this is the last day. Tomorrow when I come home I'll open voting, so if you're working on an entry make sure to post it before I open vote (even if it's technically already the 16th by then).

And here's my entry. Could use some details and other refinements, but since I just started it yesterday morning...

Concept: selmiak - looking outwards from the back alley, rather than into it, is an interesting idea and the mistiness adds an air of mystery to the place.
Playability: lorenzo - plenty of walkable area and lots of doorways to explore!
Artistic Execution: Blondbraid - great atmosphere, I get the feeling that the place would be bustling during the day, but is quite gloomy when it gets dark.

My votes, and why.
Concept: Selmiak (yeah, just shouts out the "mean streets" theme).
Playability: Blondbraid (probably getting a puzzle-solving item from the wagon, and maybe even going down the well to find some secrets).
Artistic Execution: Lorenzo (it was a hard choice between him and selmiak; but I think his was a wee bit better).
