Right, this is the first time doing this, so let me explain. ._.

This is a general drawing activity. Everyone does a drawing on a given theme. Its not so much of a compo as just exercising your skills. There is no voting involved.

There are no restrictions on color, size, res or style. Use whatever you feel like using. Usual rules of no nudity/sexual stuff and gore stand.

This week's theme is: Mother Goose.

Draw a scene or a twist on a scene from Mother Goose. It can have speech bubbles or captions if you like.

(I'd like to point out that if I didnt add the nudity clause, knowing you people everyone would draw Little Red Riding Hood doing the wolf

I think the no sex is a good one.

but I fail to see how no nudity helps as long as it is not "Little Red Riding Hood doing the wolf ", or anyone doing anyone for that matter, it should be aloud.

This is a board used by kids.. and the subject matter is kiddy, so I don't think it's unreasonable.

I think Annie (and me for that matter) is a bit fed up with beginner artists like us spewing out reams of nude 'art', it's generally just nude for the sake of it. If someone can come up with a good reason why their nursery rhyme pic has to involve nudity then I doubt it'll be kicked out. Although I doubt it'll happen either.

If nudes are your thing, try something else.. this is about learning, practicing and stuff ._.

Probably other weeks will have opportunities to draw a few boobies, don't worry people

Its actually no nudity or gore unless it actually fits the situation in a realistic manner. I have nothing against nudidty or gore per se, they both have thier place. I just don't like them invading pics where they don't belong, but are put there for the heck of it.

That's JMO tho and I spose people will still have problems with it.

Oh well.

Edit: Heh scotch posted right while I was composing and yes I agree with him. Far too many artists are just using them for drool value.

And yeah, we can do an adult edition one week where you can draw all the boobies or anything else you want if that's what it takes to keep them out of pics where they don't realistically belong. :O

I dont see any need to cloth a wolf or mother goose, but the no nudity clause makes it all so difficult - I guess Donald Duck is out too

I understand that these things need Guide-lines and when it comes to sex I agree it should not be shown.

but

A lot of artists use nudity as a way to show somthing. I personally dont do nude pictures because I enjoy developing the characters more by their style of clothing. But to deny somone the option to express themselves the way the want to, just seems mean.

and I know there are kids in these boards (younger then me anyway) and I agree the should not be subject to tastless pornography and sexual acts. Yet children looking at good art with a little nudity dosnt bother anyone. (besides the youngest i've seen in these boards is 13, and you cant tell me little boys at that age dont know what "boobies" are)

anyway I'm tired and I'm probably just looking to have a intellegent conversation unlike the ones in the blood island forum

and scotch In this one, I also see it as a good rule, I too dont like people drawing breasts just for the sake of seeing them. and as I said before nudes arent my thing ( I hate drawing them) But some people might want to, and i want them to fell welcome to join in the fun. Heh, I just think it's funny in an art activity based around nursery rhymes the main sticking point is if nudes are allowed or not

At least it's better than the 'OMG WTF! No nudity! freedom of speech dood !!1' you'd get in a lot of places

Oh yes, all farm animals must be covered up too

I'll start something today I think ._. once these walk cycles are done.

Oh yeah, and why shouldn't sex be shown.. can't that be used for legitimate artistic expression?? The rules are there not because it's offensive mainly, just because some people need to broaden their horizons.. if Annie had said 'can't use realistic shading' or 'Must have a lot of red in it' no one would say anything, they think of it as a reasonable limitation, and yet those limit the ways the artist can express just as much as this does imo. (and I've been guilty of sex just to get 'WOW great pic!' responses before ._.)

Regarding the forum policy, most nudity is allowed if there is a warning in the subject, and if it's artistic, of course. Kro-ki, for example, is after all an essential part of an artist's training.
But Annie, wouldn't this fit in the competitions and activities forum? It's after all an activity.

Jeez people you are not adopting a moral code by following this rule, its simply there for the reasons scotch stated. Why is this such a sticking point? Would you mind as much if I said no zombies allowed? Its the overdone-ness that made me put that rule in, not some moral code that says you can't draw women naked.

If you feel you can justify the use of nude in a pic, go ahead and use it.

Its an activity Andail, but cj said to start all activities outside the Activities forum, and they would be moved there if they were popular.

I don't really see how any sort of sex/nudity restriction would be a problem for anybody. This is an activity above and beyond your normal artwork. They are not rules that are meant to apply to everything you do. Whether this activity exists or not with its rules has no bearing on your other work, and if you really need to include nudity, just don't do the activity. How is this even an issue?
