I don't know what's going on in #ags and #agsfun, but apparently some French people banned Roger from #agsfun and Roger keeps joining and quitting.

I had to join #ags using all 3 of Roger's names just to keep him from flooding the room with join and quit messages. And as for #agsfun, there are four nicks with the same IP, and they're all ops. It's quite annoying. Isn't this considered a room takeover? Isn't that...illegal? In certain countries?

What I discovered was, someone named Roger joined their channel and flooded it, so, they are doing a pay-back taking over #agsfun... but they don't know he's not the same roger and worse, that he's a bot :o
Hope we find a solution for this fast, I'm doing my best

There was a period before all that where I was using BabelFish to try to talk to them in French. They spoke horrible, broken English.

APparently, they were getting back at a friend of theirs, who had used the nick name Roger. Thinking that our Roger was theirs, they "got back" at him and basically took over #agsfun.

Heh. Oh well. They did hostilly take over #agsfun, regardless of their intentions. They kicked people, the ignored people, they changed the topic, they kickbanned Roger, they opped themselves, they added themselves to L's op list SOMEhow, they chose who to voice and de-voice and moderated the channel. I'd call that a hostile takeover. Oh well. They deserved it.

I asked to revoke the IP's I gave, and told them it was a big misunderstanding, before they got kicked, and someone told me that I didn't have to worry about it. I wish I was there when they were kicked, though. But I'm glad to see that we can fight these nasty people taking over our page.

No matter how nice they were after the fact, they went in, messed with roger, and took over our #agsfun. They were hostile without provocation or reason. Ignored our pleading that roger was not the roger they thought it was, and was in fact a bot. Yes, once they understood they made a grave error, they were good enough to stay around and see if they could "help" CJ fix his bot (which might have entailed, gaining our trust, and attacking CJ somehow). I felt it was my duty to report them to the feds, before they finally listened to us, and understood what they did. They disobeyed the server rules, and were punished because of it. Justice has been done.

Some french people allegedly thought Roger was someone they knew.  Since they same him in our channel they came in and took it over (both #ags and #agsfun), and did something to Roger so that he experiences an EOF error every time he joins the channel.  Sylpher soon came in and got them out of #ags, but they remained in #agsfun for ages until they finally gave Felipe op status.  Roger is sitll messed up as far as I know.

So, they started flooding #ags asking for Roger and were banned, then they took over #agsfun...

2. They whois our Roger, and because #agsfun is not a secret channel they went in there.
3. Roger's welcome message to agsfun mentions #ags, which is how they found out about it.
4. They then all spammed Roger via PMs at the same time, so that he got kicked by the server for flooding when he sent his replies to them.
5. He had such a huge backlog of "huh?" replies to send out that every time he managed to connect to the server again, it booted him off for flooding.
6. Eventually all this join-part annoyed everyone to the extent where they banned him
7. I have now reset Rog and all should be working again.

I am working on incoroprating measures to stop this happening again. I have removed "#ags" from Roger's welcome message to #agsfun so he won't reveal the channel's existance.

What I do want to know is how these guys managed to get L to op them. I thought the whole point of L was to protect our channels, not allow anyone to come along and op themselves.

If these guys managed to bust Roger and overtake our channel, something I wouldn't know where to start if I were to do it, I'm pretty sure they actually didn't think he was a bot, nor did they think he was a friend of theirs.

This is a rather minor point, but I think you meant to say that they actually didn't think he wasn't a bot.

In any case, I'm somewhat inclined to agree with you.  Having witnessed the situation, it was rather odd that they never gave their "friend" the slightest chance to explain himself, or even asked why he continually logged on and off several times a minute for hours.  It seems to me that a reasonable person would perceive that it's rather odd for a real IRC user to exhibit that kind of behavior for ages on end.  But of course I can't be sure; Felipe is convinced of their character, and he is the one that ended up getting us through the incident, so I have to take that into account as well.  Who knows?

Remember that everytime ROger did log on then back off, one of them always yelled "Roger!!!!!!!! Roger!!!!!!!!"

Unless they were mentally retarded or just stupid, they probably did think our Rog was their Roger.

As to the point about knowing all that h4x0r stuff but not realizing he was a bot, remember also that stupid people, with enough basic knowledge, can do stupid things, and still remain stupid.
