I won last sprite J. So here goes:

Imagine you are working in a team on a game. You get to draw characters of your choice.

Size:
Height - 90 pixels
Width - whatever you choose

Colours - unlimited

You can choose from:
- the boss of a large company
- the evil coffee lady
- the handyman
- the security guard
- the office dullard
- the cook (which always makes horrid food)
- the sexy secretary

Keep in mind - the funnier the better
Animation will gain extra points

You may also combine 2 characters in one sprite

Yeah, you just try it!  I've got the Evil Coffee Lady on my side.  She'll...uh...spill all over you.  And it'll be really uncomfortable and inconvenient and probably stain your clothes and possibly burn you or something.  Then you'll be sorry.

My sad attempt at an entry. It looked good when I started at 2 am, but now it just looks messy..

Anyway, here's a sexytary. I bet she's real hot under all them clothes. 26 colors, 87x87, animated. She's a bit large and nearsighted, which makes typing difficult. She's also a bit dazed because her slimfast shake is wearing off.

I generally regard sprites as things done in paint or a similiar fashion... People who can handle/have photoshop can stomp all over paint work just by using a few tools. I would say it is a little unfair, and I like it when people specify paint only.

I guss it is hard to define what a sprite is. But in general, things that are antialiased to blend in with only the background they were drawn on (The coffee cup, the candyman), and things that have been resized and resampled in photoshop (animated coffee lady) are not considered sprites. Basically, if it wouldn't look right in a game over a background, then it's not a sprite. But this isn't a debate, so I'll save further whining until the jam is over

It's antialiased though.. around the edges.. so it wouldn't work as a sprite.

I know, that's why I said I agreed with the rest of his points.  I was just making it clear I actually made those as opposed to simply fixing up somebody else's work.  But yea, they wouldn't work as sprites unless I made them transparent and got rid of the outside AA.
