Popups

I keep getting popups that sort of keep coming, and Its really starting to get annoying.

This is what they are like. There is a simalar one that tells me to go to http://www.endads.com and download somethingm, but I don't trust it. I also get one that keeps saying things like "Hi, I'm monica...blah blah blah... visit this website"

Its starting to come more often, and I'm getting quite worried. Any idea what the hell they are, or how to get rid of them?

download zone alarm or search google for pop up killer. one that when a new pop up pops up, you go to the killer, and select from a list of open windows what never to accept again.

Heh, I used to get them almost straight away on a clean install of 2k.. until I turned off the messenger service.

I had pr0n popups. Until this came along and tied my shoes.

Not only they were pr0n popups, but gargoyle pr0n popups! Spyware is obvious sign.

I should try mozilla one day though.  Although I don't think anything could prize me away from opera now :/

Do you want to know the funniest, and most ironic thing ever? Most of the pop ups that make it past Opera are ones in the style of modal message boxes ("Blah blah blah", [ OK ] button underneath, sometimes a [ Cancel ] button next to it). And do you want to know what 99% of those types of pop-ups are for?

Popup windows are a nuisance, but research shows that the simpler the popup the more clickable it is, and the people finaly get annoyed at one point and say "shit, I'm sick of this!" and download them and end up with lots of stuff they didn't bargain for.

You know what's worse than popups is the stuff that installs itself without telling you. Like the Xupiter toolbar. If you want to get rid of spyware download spybot to get rid of anything that has installed itself and get a copy of Norton Firewall.

Yeah, mozilla is good. It's very safe, that's what I like about it, but the new version damages all large files I download with it, so I use opera to download them.
