Me likey. But rather than elaborate on that ;) , critical comments below.
Spoiler

Bugs:
Final spell can be cast just by having the crystals.
Also, I had the same disappearing crystal problem, in a version uploaded after it was supposedly fixed.
Not bugs:
I read the book and saw the intro, so I already knew of two solutions to the start. But one of them didn't appear to work at first...
LOOK AT the doorknob?! Why would I want to do that when I can already SEE the keyhole itself?
Okay, so I get an unexpected bonus this time, but should I really click on everything with every mode.
(Maybe I should, since I have a spell and a party trick left over that I can find no use for.)

And yes, that last spell doesn't fit normally, reversed, or by questioning which way is really up for the image, or whether the image is inverted during projection. Actually, the rules exclude many possibilities.
I think they need to be more precisely defined and adhered to for a system of magic.

Woah.  You did this in one month?  You've made my year-long effort look like a pile of poo.

Very nice stuff here.  I'm glad to hear that you're making a longer version of this.  I'm curious as to who this Clive person is.  But finish "Time Out" first or suffer the horrible consequences!

evilspacefart

It's very commercial quality looking.

YOke

I love this game! BUT IT'S TOO SHORT!!!! MORE, MORE, MORE!!!

Two small beefs, tho...

1. Inventory is far too small (but nicely designed!)
2. The main character looks like a schoolboy from the front, but like a mean thug from the sides.

Spell system is excellent, and I'll break your legs if you don't make this into (at least) a medium length game. Seriously! YOU OWE US!!!  ;)

Enlightenment is not something you earn, it's something you pay for the rest of your life.

MrColossal

thank you for the kind words and bug reports

it won't be much longer but the ending will be MUCH better

also, as far as mags goes i wonder if people realized that there was a day night transition [i consider the intro a part of the game]

and i don't know if anyone found them all but there are 3 ways to get into the house

also if you played it without music you totally loose. ghormak is awesome.

also i'm gonna change the walk icon but i don't know what to, i don't just want a pair of legs.

also i have to remember to follow my own rules when it comes to casting spells and fix those up.

also i have to finish the game which will be short sorry, but i don't care what you want because i'd rather finish the bitch and move on, though i am sad that ghormak's code won't be used anymore

love,
eric

I look forward to it.
I found the three ways, but the sense of as yet untapped puzzles ...
I'll just wait in line quietly. 8)

Aha, but is it this famous 32-bit graphics, Erico? I mean, the character's edges looked anti-aliased? Or am I really dumb when it comes to graphics?

MrColossal

i made the game with the ags beta that only supported 32 bit backgrounds without and alpha channels. so the character is all blocky and shiznit yes.

but i don't know what you mean

big brother

Ok, maybe I'm dumb, but I only found two ways to get into the house(the fire spell and the key spell). What's the elusive third way?

ok here's the deal, a quick mid thanksgiving update

if you have no sound at all don't run the game through the launcher

go into files and run the game normally, for some reason it cuts of music all together.

you really need to hear ghormak's music cause it just rocks awesome

Errrr... nice game!!! I've tried using that suggestion of running Spellbound.exe from /files as well as changing the options in the AGS setup.exe but there is still no music. I only can hear the character's footsteps.

*sighs* Just what am I doing wrong?!

Edit: I'll just like to state that except for some pesky Windows Audio services(just that some onboard audio or some other software is conflicting with my sound card, thus causing my audio to disable), I have no problems with audio in games, mp3s, etc. So, I'm not entirely sure why the music in Spellbound is just not working for me.

Also, the music works fine in Play Spellbound.exe perfectly well but not within the game itself.

Final edit: Oooohhh, it turns out that music.vox was NOT in the the "files" folder so I copied it over. :) I was actually looking at another game and realised then, that "digital music" was grayed out in winsetup.exe for Spellbound! :)

So, at the risk of sounding like a whiny teenager, does anyone know what is the status of the game? :)

MrColossal

Hello,

There really is no status anymore... I wanted to finish it but I also wanted to finish Time Out and I never did.

I don't see Spellbound being finished in the forseeable future, and I'm a time traveler so...

Thanks for the interest though!
