The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 CupNot serious entertainment
2 CupsA reasonable game, worth a try
3 CupsA good game, worth playing
4 CupsA great game, well worth your time
5 CupsAn outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been under-rated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

AGS Panel Review

"A solid remake of the original that tries to improve on its predecessor in nearly every way, often succeeding. At the time of this rating, the high combat difficulty (even after it is adjusted) may turn away some more puzzle-oriented players, but those who can deal with it will find an enjoyable remake here!"

A long time waited remake game. All men and women behind this game should be proud of their team work for bringing this gold classic game alive again.

Super - fantasy - game.

A nearly flawless remake of a classic. The strengths of the original game are emphasized, and the weaknesses are eliminated. This game should not be missed by any fan of Sierra-style games.

AGDI Have succeeded admirably at recreating an updated and rejuvenated version of this classic Sierra title that I enjoyed in my childhood.

Amazing Game

A great remake which takes a good game and makes it even better.

The combat is still a challenge (which is nothing new from the original) but now you can't just spam the keys once your stats get high enough (Though with enough time and patience combat does become a breeze).

If you didn't like the original then this remake won't change your mind, and anyone looking for a pure Adventure game (or with a dislike of open RPGs) will probably be disappointed. But if you have fond memories of the Quest for Glory series, or want to try something alittle different from most of the other games on here, then Trail by Fire is a must play (i am already onto my third playthrough and planning my fourth).

Although the artwork and coding is excellent, I found the gameplay to be very bad. For example, at the begining you could be wandering around for hours not knowing where to go or what to do.

Fans of the original, and newbies to QFG alike, would do well to check out this little gem of a game. A couple of the new mini games are a tiny bit difficult, but all in all, AGDI has put forth a product that was well worth the wait.
