The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 CupNot serious entertainment
2 CupsA reasonable game, worth a try
3 CupsA good game, worth playing
4 CupsA great game, well worth your time
5 CupsAn outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been under-rated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

You're Alfred Robbins. You're 42 years old and work at a local post office. It's the night before Christmas, and you've just recently returned home after working overtime. Neither you nor your wife has had the time to make the proper arrangements for a Christmas celebration, and you've decided to use this last night to surprise your family. Times have been rough, so make do with what you have and celebrate the holidays to your best effort.

Two weeks production time, then a few additional days fixing all the horrid bugs!

AGS Panel Review

"Chilling, depressing, but well executed. Story may leave some players cold, but it's point is effectively made."

8 people commented on this game (newest first):

Great, perfectly bleak graphics (the emotionless eye whites!), immersive original soundtrack, atmospheric writing...

On the other hand, it has a rather awkward interface and the safe puzzle (one of the first you need to solve) is completely unfair. Finally, I felt the chilling conclusion was somewhat out of place.

Nevertheless, because of the atmosphere, the music and the unusual take on Christmas theme, I still would consider Alfred Robbins a must-play.

Fantastic game, totally worth playing. Such a depressing mood of a kind that I've not experienced in an adventure game before. You really felt like you were invested in the central character for a short time, which makes the twist of an ending even more shocking!

I completed this game the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it from begining to end.
I myself found no bugs at all.
The graphics are very well done as is the scripting and the ending is just WOW!
I definitely recommend this one.

I'm a bit puzzled by the previous reviews: this game is definitely worth playing.

Played the 1.02 version, no bugs found (but tried only once). Think this one has been polished to run stable. The game is quite short, but nice. Give it a try.

Dreadful, illogical and utterly pointless - avoid!

I really like the graphics and the music, and I love the atmosphere. However, this game is so buggy, that it cannot be completed. I've already downloaded two updates provided by the developers, and each new version breakes earlier than the previous ones. After playing the beginning three times, I've decided it's enough, at least for a while, until it gets fixed. Still giving it a high score for the most part.

If the author of this badly drawn game with the most frustrating game play I've run into in a long time wanted to leave me feeling sick, he succeeded. I can't figure out what else he might have been trying to accomplish.
