The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

"Paranoids are not paranoids because they're paranoid, but because they keep putting themselves, fucking idiots, deliberately into paranoid situations."

--Thomas Pynchon, Gravity’s Rainbow

THE STORY

Six months ago, Cole Fisher was fired from his job as a computer engineer at Cosmic X, a corporation devoted to the betterment of the human race, the pursuit of world peace and eventual space conquest. The reason? He found out what they’re really up to. It’s quite obvious, you know. They’re trying to take over the world.
Since then, Cole has been holed up in his apartment hacking his way through endless labyrinthine connections, gathering as much data as he could to expose the biggest conspiracy in human history.
And now, Cole has had a surreal vision, a religious experience, a
close encounter, call it what you like. A Mysterious Messenger has told him it’s time to act and bring down Cosmic X once and for all. Or at least that’s his take on it.
"Personal Rocket" is a tale of paranoia and loneliness, the evils of capitalism and too much web surfing, the material world and the Occult universe. Your typical postmodern blues.

AGS Panel Review

"The Panel does not rate demos."

3 people commented on this game (newest first):

The graphics are good and the story's engaging.
The gameplay not so much for me. The music got tireseome too. Please consider a way to turn it off.

This is a brilliant demo which has left me hungrier for more. The storyline matches the paranoia theme well, the graphics are nostalgically reminiscent of older style VGA games, the puzzles are challenging (bringing back memories of building a computer and the questionable joys of Linux consoles). A very well-produced game and great soundtrack too. Bring on Chapter 2!
