The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

The very first game by Matthew Brown (Stinkysoftware) and for some reason, has had a sudden surge in popularity. The game has that great, retro-n00b feeling that we all love to hate. Its about a chap named Robert (bob) who was on his way to marching band camp. Then His Bus breaks down. Then, later, his roommate is killed. Help Bob get to camp! Help Bob catch the killer! HELP BOB SAVE BANDKIND!!1!1!!

More like an attempt to collect as many bugs together in one place than an actual game. Literally unplayable for more than a couple of minutes (if that) with terrible lazy graphics and everything else. The music is bad in a funny way for a few seconds but that's it really. I honestly don't know how this could even be considered a game, let alone a good one! If it was a movie Ed Wood would laugh at how bad it was.

Hi, I don't know what happened, but it seems you stopped making the games you talked about. I would really appreciate if you fix Bob's Quest, I was having fun until I kept getting stuck in buildings with no more actions. Also TGC looks great and I hope you finish it one day. I know AGS is old now days, but I am a fan of your games. I don't know if you are still making games, but I was browsing your site trying to find the completed version you talked about on your games AGS page. Something about 19 versions and you didn't know which one was the completed fixed version.

Anyways, let me know what you plan to do. I don't know how long it would take you to finish TGC, but the screen shots look great and I really look forward to playing it one day and I hope you didn't scrap it completely.

Almost 5 years since Redmax commented on here, and it seems nobody is the wiser as to if this game is actually playable from start to finish??? hmm

Even the newer version on the site has freezing bugs... food mart and when you try to leave the sherriff's office it is impossible to go outside again...

Whoops...evidently HTML tags don't work in these comments. Uh...sorry. I'll bear that in mind in the future.

I don't agree with Redmax that this game is completely hopeless--I think the plot shows potential, and there are some funny bits. However, I certainly do agree about the bugs. This game, as it stands, is unplayable. Literally. Was this beta-tested at all? It couldn't have been, because there's no way the beta testers could not have noticed that the game cannot be completed. The Food Mart is a trap. Even if you do manage to get in in such a way so you're standing on a walkable area (which is possible, but quite difficult), there's still no way to leave. (Nor is there anything at all to interact with there--no hotspots, no objects, no nothing. And I checked the uncompiled game files, which were (inadvertently?) included in the zip, so I know I wasn't just missing something.)

Maybe there's nothing needed from the Food Mart anyway (though I doubt that's the case); I didn't go through the game files in enough detail to figure out exactly what was supposed to have happened. But I'm pretty sure the police station is a place you have to visit. And we've got the same situation here--you can't leave! Even if you manage to click with the right object on just the right tiny spot (and--and I'm being purposely vague here to try to avoid spoilers--why is it you have to use the object on the door, anyway, when it's the person behind the window who wanted it?) and get into the sherriff's office, there's no way back out. Or rather, there is, but then you're stuck in a non-walkable area in the police station entry and can't do anything but re-enter the sherriff's office.

I actually am curious to see the rest of this game. I want to know how the plot turns out. I want to play it through. But as it stands, I can't, because there are game-killing bugs that make it unplayable. Fix it. Please. >>

I hate giving a game a very low rating because good effort should be encouraged, but I can't help give this the lowest of lowest, because there really was no effort, or talent, in this game at all. First of all, I couldn't complete the game due to bugs. For some reason, whenever I try to get into the Police Station or the Food Store, the main character either disappears from the screen or he appears inside a wall. In both cases, the character can no longer exit these places so the game stops. In the early portion of the game, when things still work, the graphics are appaling and the midi songs that play in the background can get on your nerves quickly for being repetitive and lack quality. Still, this would be bearable if the game had a nice plot and humorous dialogue... which isn't the case. The dialogue is bland and the "narrator" text is arrogant and tries really hard to be funny by insulting Adventure game stereotypes. Maybe some people will find that amusing, but I, for one, didn't. Considering what's being offered here, which is a "no effort" and "no talent" game, I can only give an Overall score of 1 out of 5

Graphics were a bit painful, and there were bugs, but this game was acually funny, well-written and smart. I look forward to the new and improved version, and other games by panda!
