The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 CupNot serious entertainment
2 CupsA reasonable game, worth a try
3 CupsA good game, worth playing
4 CupsA great game, well worth your time
5 CupsAn outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been under-rated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

Frank the Farmhand is an excellent game that gets better as it goes along. Following the story of a farmhand who would rather pursue academic excellence than milk another cow, the game opens with superbly cinematic credits. The simple cartoon graphics remind me of those excellent stylised 90s cartoons like Rocko's Modern Life and Duckman. Although it comes with the warning about racist themes, Frank the Farmhand is not a racist game. Check out Frank's reactions to the racist characters in the game for proof of this.

The first part of the game that takes place in the school is far worse than what follows. At this early stage the other characters seem one dimensional and the humour is relentlessly crude. However, once Frank ventures out of the school the game picks up considerably. The meeting with the hilarious wannabe gangster kid is great and by the time Frank has had his aboslutely genius dialogue with the depressed Klansman you realise Frank the Farmhand is far better than you may have initially given it credit for.

The much put upon sidekick Benny and the Professor are both very likable characters and the agents Sam and Max are amusing and menacing in equal measures. The puzzles are not too difficult but not easy either, although they are generally logical enough to work out. The music is inconsequential but pleasant.

I'd definitely recommend playing Frank the Farmhand. Its a light but exciting game that slowly builds up its intriguing plot with plenty of humour along the way. An extremely entertaining experience.

Some of the puzzles were rather confusing, but overall you were able to get through everything without too much trouble. Great backgrounds and music.

This game rules!
The best part about it were the unexpected animations and the cartoon-like graphics. I love the room art.
Mattias does a good job taking a serious subject matter and turning it into humor.

The only bad part about this game:

I have to wait for Part 2!!
