The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

AGS Panel Review

"Promising, but flawed design proves fatal. Needed a lot more work."

Better late than never... I REALLY liked your game ... it was ...mmm...how should I put it? Intriguing? Interesting? Suspenseful? Sound effects to puzzles to just everything blending into one... I have to say KUDOS to you! Thanks for letting me have the pleasure to download this dynamic game you've made.

Woo :) Thanks, I'm glad I was successful in creating a spooky atmosphere, that was one of my key goals. Thanks....

Whoops, I guess I didnt look hard enough =P

In my previous review I somehow neglected to mention the games greatest strength: Atmosphere. The game is very dark and spooky, and has great sound effects of the Stranger tormenting our hero.

You didn't need to use Google for the puzzle, there was a book in the library which could have saved you the trouble :) Thanks for the review!

'Stranger by Night' was a pretty good addition to my favorite adventure game genre (horror).

Its not quite as long or big as it should be but it leaves room for a sequel. The room design is artistic but looks very blurred. The main character is good looking but she could do with some more walking animations. The puzzles are generally quite easy, except for the difficult Greek Gods puzzle (I needed a lot of research on Google to work it out).

All in all not as good as games like 5DAS/7DAS and Pleurghsberg: Dark Ages but its still quite enjoyable. 7/10.
