Of the Essence is a short and simple freeware game, created with AGS. It was created for the MAGS competition of April 2011, in which it fared poorly due to its limited and difficult to grasp gameplay and incomplete status at time of release.
The game is a top-down -perspective action game in which the player must, under a strict time limit, guide the protagonist through a battlefield full of machineguns, mines, craters, tanks, air-strikes and artillery strikes to make it into the safety of a bunker. The game is primarily controlled with the keyboard, and features 8 unique achievements.
