I've seen one about ninjas on the AGS homepage. It's on the list of the most recently added games and it's called "Platformerius" by 2ma2.

I made Demonslayer three an action game, it's on my site...If you like it I can provide you with the source.

I belive that 2ma2's platform game is open source also...

AGS isn't the engine for that, at least not if you're a beginner in scripting. I'd say look for something like Game Maker (Free) or the Games Factory (about $30 I think). I'm using Game Maker for a project, and it's quite versetile, even for beginners.

Makin an action game is possible! I'm sure coz I wanna make one. The game I released was mainly action but controlled by the mouse still. It is possible but you hav to design the engine yourself.

Is it worth it though?

If you ever made a game in TGF, you'd notice that backdrops in action games are built up of tiles. (the same graphic used again and again).

In AGS, if you had a good level that was 2000 pixels long, you'd have to draw a 2000 long BMP!!! :o :o

Unless you can type up millions of RawDrawImage()'s.

Is it really worth it?

Hi! I was actually looking into doing a simple action sequence for my game, and I looked at demonslayer - the shotgun, bullet, kill something is mostly what I wanted to look at.

Is it possible to get the source, or maybe just explain how it was done?

Hm, why is everybody so discouraging? I guess it's the forum fever or something...
It's definately possible to make an action game in AGS and I think it's a great way to learn some serious scripting as well. How much have you scripted before? You'll have to be a pretty decent scripter to be able to make anything playable... That comes out of practice though. Just learn the basics at first (if/else,functions,loops). Then experiment with the interface, because that's where the harder parts usually begin. Change what happens on mouse clicks and so on. Once you've got that covered I think you can go on making an action game without much problem. Of course there are things in AGS not suited for the genre, but if AGS is what you want to use, then use it.
And don't come back to the forums until you have a better question (these "is this possible threads can usually only lead to one answer")! ;)

Now go do some scripting, dammit! Asking around the forums won't get you anywhere.

Whoa! Why on earth was this post dragged up from three months ago?

Because I was looking for discussions on creating action content for ags, and one of the games I looked at was demonslayer. I saw this "offer for source" so I figured Id ask to take a look.

... and it does seem like everybody on this topic was a bit discouraging. Some of the classic Adventure games had arcade sequences. Where would Riger Wilco be without Astro Chicken, afterall?

And where would JakeMcurk be without the cottage shoot out in Pleurghburg?  :)
