Hello AGS community,

I've quietly lurked this forum for many years and have played many of your wonderful games. Now, for the problem...

The desktop PC that I'm currently using dosen't play any music in any AGS games. I've tried Nanobots, Nelly Cootalot, Apprentice 2, Trillby's Notes and many more to no avail. This is so frustrating because I've never come across this issue before I tried them on my new pc. I've updated my sound card drivers, tried running the sound on MCI and MIDI Mapper... nothing works. The worst part is that sound effects, recorded speech, etc. work just fine! The problem seems to be entirely with MIDI. Has anyone else come across this issue?

Have you checked your mixer settings? Easiest way to check it out is double-clicking the speaker symbol in the lower-right corner in the taskbar, there should be a slider for MIDI. Is that turned down or muted maybe?

Wow, what an obvious solution. SW Synth was muted and here I was searching for integrated audio drivers. Thank you!

Oh, by the way, I really hope that Fountain Of Youth is completed as a full game... the most promising AGS release in forever was the demo. Just fantastic.

Welcome, Eliminator!

It's funny, I've had this same problem before and it was the same solution :=

For some odd reason, every time I started an AGS game, the MIDI would be turned all the way down. Very wierd indeed.

I remember that Windows Media Player would always set the MIDI out volume to 0 when you played a MIDI with it, if AGS would do it, it should be considered a glitch and be fixed.
