The result looks good I must say!
(note: I did NOt make this tutorial)

Also, maybe you need an account on Deviant Art to view this, I have no idea. No complaints :)
Result does look very good, but I don't think the tutorial is that good. :)
I mean it basically says draw nice looping texture, test that it loops nicely, you are done.
One technique I have used for looping textures it to use grid tool, grid brush or what ever it would be called. In Photoshop it would go like this. Set the grid size to whatever your tile size will be. Draw a pixel in grid intersections so that you have nine pixels. Like this: (http://bantza.raah.fi/junk/grid.png) Now use it as a brush and try to draw with the center dot. This technique has helped me a lot when making seamless tiles.

That's freaking clever!!!!!!!!
PS: I posted that not only as a tutorial for seemless textures, but also because the use of very few colors is interesting.
I usually use the offset filter in photoshop, then I just fix the seams that appear.
I found this ingenious method over at pixelation:

This actually is obliterating the grid, and it makes it easy to create multiple tiles for variation.
Btw, ProMotion supports tile-based drawing i.e. identical tiles are updated in real-time as you change one. It's as close to perfect as you can get.
