Title: About Warcraft Adventures
Post by: on Sun 01/08/2004 04:22:32
It has been so long that I dont play any adventure games (now that i found ags site i can play alot again ;D), i used to play alot of games and warcraft was one of them. I was just wonderin today what happened with Warcraft: Lord of the Clans that i saw a preview movie in starcraft cd some years ago, so i started searchin in the web any site to download it for freeÃ,  :P or to see any screenshots or demo and i found that blizzard didnt release the game when it was completed 'cause they decided that the game engine got out of date from the year that they started makin it causin it to be out of blizzard's standard concept to release it, and focusin on adventure games would delay other important projects so they cancelled Warcraft Adventures.. :-\
Now i just want to know if anyone knows if they will ever release the game, or if anyone hacked or will hack blizzard to get the gameÃ,  =P or if anyone had the idea to make an adventure game based on Warcraft Novel books, including Lord of the clans.
If you guys never knew about it i have found a site with some informations and screenshots:
http://www.war3.com/lotc/
it seems to be a nice game...

I am new here, and I'm out of date with adventure games scene, sorry about my ignorance by advance.

I think eric scanned and old magazine that did a lengthy article about this very subject.. Not sure though.

(And I am 99% sure that game will never see the light of day)

There's something on Gamespot that explains what happened: http://www.gamespot.com/features/pcgraveyard/

The art is amazing but I could never stomach the GUI.

A lot of the story elements ended up in WarCraft III, like the main  character Thrall is the main troll guy in WC3 and whatnot.

I personally find the sprites look a touch out of place because they don't cast shadows. Other than that, I like 'em.

I like them, the sprites are great.

Though nearly every thing in similar style is great if you compare with KQ7 ;D

Well chicken, look at the background, beautifly detailed, you can even see moss on the rocks, Look at how the sprites molested that background. The sprites dont even have texture, woods to smooth, theres no wrinkles in their clothes, even the fabric looks like spandex.
Look at the 4th photo. For some reason the guy with the cape just stands out.

I personally think the sprites are magnificent. Just looking at the screenshots, I can practically see them moving, and animating extremely fluidly. I remember buying that PC Gamer with Warcraft Adventures on the cover, and being extremely excited for it.

It's a shame it was never released. It was probably an excellent adventure, what they had finished.

Metal Slug uses pretty much the same idea. Extremely detailed backgrounds with much more simple solid characters with dark outlines. So it doesn't bother me at all.

Unless one of you want to say Metal Slug looks like garbage then I will personally eat your face and steal your kittens and run to Mexico and drown them and then make some burritos. Kitten burritos.

Yum.

Yeah the characters are great, I'll rather see nicely animated cartoony characters than fully texturised plastic cripple 3D polycrap models. ;D

Is it just me, or are the Sprites incredibly sexy? And if life was like a metal slug game, there would be no war or hatred. There would only be love.  :-*

Is warcraft 3 any good? 1 & 2 were always too repetative and slog-some for me, but the third LOOKS tempting...

I imagine it's something like Sacrefice, which is an unbelievably good game...

WC3 got boring after a while, they tried to make it like a rpg and threw in items and escort missions... I reccomend rise of nations
