Title: Adventure Game Design Patterns
Post by: on Thu 27/04/2006 10:59:47
Today I was a bit bored at my job so I went through monkey island one and tried to classify the types of puzzles used. I wonder if it might be helpful to anyone designing a game. I'm also open to contributions. Cheers.

Sorry about the surprisngly large titles my style sheet makes no difference between h2 and h3 ... something I will have to rectify some day. Anyway enjoy :D

Excellent stuff! For a moment I thought you were going to advocate the use of design patterns in AGS scripting, but your stuff is good. I'd love to see more examples. Also, you could put (or link to) this excellent article on the wiki in the "Game Theory Discussion" category so people can add other examples...

I just read the whole thing and I really suggest everyone who's into adventure developing to read this. It was very "eye-opening". :P

Thank you for sharing this such an interesting article! :)

Sure I'll add a link to the wiki this weekend. I'm hoping to expand what I've written and refine - glad you found it useful :D

(Also the wiki isn't the easiest thing to find http://americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/index.php/Main_Page american girl scouts? :) )

Hey, great job analyzing puzzle-structures.

Also, check out the Game Ontology Project, you might want to contribute :-)
